Beer is an alcoholic beverage made from water, barley, hops and brewer's yeast. It is the number one cause of hangovers, poor decisions, and one-night stands in human history, but we always manage to forgive it because it loves us.

    Best beers you've had lately.

Sadly I haven't had much GOOD beer as of late, but whenever I'm looking for something above average I stick with Unibroue from Quebec. I'm in Canada, and unfortunately we don't get much selection in terms of American Micros. However, we got a few good micros here like Mill St. and McAuslan.

I'm originally from Vernon BC so I'll always have a bit of a soft spot for Okanagan Spring Brewery - even the Sleeman buyout didn't really hurt that. Their porter is excellent, although it is an English-style porter and is very malty, so Guiness fans might  recoil after the first sip. Also like their Mild Dark and 1516s, and for a lager their Lager isn't bad. Don't like their Pale Ale, but I think that's more of my own tastes than anything, because the only OKSprings beer you ever see in the province's pubs is that Pale Ale. Oh well.

In my area, Spinnaker's is a small brew-pub that makes some decent stuff. Like their Nut Brown Ale. Swan's has a nice raspberry ale too.

Lighthouse Brewery's Race Rocks is a good alternative to the more machined taste of Rickard's Red (not to say that Rickard's is awful or anything, because it's not), although I doubt it sees much distribution off the island.

Granville Island Brewery has an excellent Maple Cream Ale. Light and refreshing.

Big Rock from Calgary has a number of good beers too. Grasshopper is probably their best known beer (it's a wheat one) but their have a nice ale too. Jackrabbit's not bad either, but it's more Coors Light than anything, which is only good if you want a beer that tastes a lot like water.

I also have 23 liters of stout brewing in my bedroom at the moment, but I won't know for a few weeks whether it's good or not.

The beer I had most recently was Old Style which I had at Wrigley Field and I wasn't a fan. My favorite is Sam Adams, especially the Boston Lager.

I recently picked up a sampler from Lakefront Brewery, out of Milwaukee.  Like most samplers, they were hit-or-miss, but the Cherry Lager, Stein Beer, and Coffee Stout were pretty damn good.  If you know anyone with celiac disease, Lakefront is known for their gluten free beers.

However, Lakefront's tagline, "Taste Milwaukee's Heritage" is probably about the worst slogan I've heard.

Last month I went to the great british beer festival - the largest beer festival in Britain, with over 600 Real Ale's and some ciders and lagers too. The best beer I had there was probably the Abbots Special Reserve or the Fullers ESB. If you know your real ale's you'll have guessed by now that I like a strong beer.

Is it me or did they change the formula of blue moon a little bit. I usually get it as a summer beer, and this year it tasted different than i originally remember. Thoughts?

All beer tastes the same to me, but I like Rolling Rock mainly because it makes my tongue go kind of numb.

    Dogfish Head Chicory Stout
The Chicory Stout has a nice flavor to it, at room temperature.  It's excellent, but definitely has some bite to it, which takes some getting used to.

My absolute number one provider is the Flying Dog brewery.
Close runner-ups are most things Wychwood, Krušovice, Red Stripe and Bellman.

I recently had a 32% beer called Tactical Nuclear Penguin, now that was a beer.
But generally I enjoy Corona, Sol, and maybe some wheat beer like Hoegaarden.

Last night I took down an white wheat beer.

It was really damn good.    I go for micro brews whenever I can, but my standby is a Sam Adams.

I went to the Beer house (in dutch: Het bierhuis) and drank these nice beers: Gulden draak and Piraat. they were very nice (Especially gulden draak)
I'm a fan of Leffe as well, that's what I usually drink when I'm not ordering wine :p. Anyway, since I live in Belgium I never have any trouble finding good, tasty beer .

@pepsimax: gulden draak looks amazing, and expensive :(

edit: last post but this one is also quite something, usually they serve it with the huge bottle and you're GUARANTEED to get piss drunk after drinking all of it. I usually end up sharing it because of how strong it is

Fat Tire by New Belgium brewing.  I also like their Sunshine Wheat.  Plus it's October now so you gotta have some Sam Adams Octoberfest.

My personal favourite is KARHU (means bear) from Finland. check out the website www.karhu.fi , before entering the website you are asked if you are 18 or not, choose "Kyllä" which means "yes" and you get access to the nice&cosy website, if you choose "En" which means "No" the sign says "Karhu  is only for adults", at the moment I am enjoying a n ice cold Olvi Tuplapukki 8,5%
