In Megami Tensei
Belphegor appears as early as in the Famicom title Megami Tensei II, but it would not be until his appearance as a boss in Shin Megami Tensei II that his more iconic toilet-postured form was seen. The toilet is a probably reference to the fact that excrement is allegedly required as an offering to summon him, or that he's too lazy to even bother ever getting off of it.
In Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor, Belphegor's head and left arm appear as part of the bloated, amalgamated demon Belberith.
