Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure is one of multiple unrelated games based on the popular Bill & Ted franchise. The 1991 Lynx game is based on both movies and the cartoon. "Death" from the movie sequel, has kidnapped the princesses, and Bill and Ted must travel through time to save them.
The game takes place on an overhead view, where the player controls either Bill or Ted in one of several time periods. The player must seek out and collect music notes, and phone book pages to advance to different times and locations. A variety of enemies stand in the way, but Bill and Ted are armed with musical instruments (which are found throughout the game) to thwart them. The player must solve puzzles and use logic to enter buildings, escape enemies, and proceed back and forth between various time periods and locations.
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure supports the ComLynx cable, allowing two-player cooperative play provided each player has a Lynx, and a copy of the game.
