Wouldn't be surprised if this was simply to throw people off.
Regardless, I'd still bet on this being a multiplayer spin off rather than ME3.

Pfft if they're trying to hype an announcement of ME3 that everyone knows coming anyway, then this is going to be more disappointing than iTunes hyping for The Beatles.

If it is just Mass Effect 3, that's boring. I mean, really. We've known that's coming for a long time, and the commercial for the VGA makes sure to point  out that it's from the makers of Mass Effect and Dragon's Age. If it winds up being another part of something that's already been mentioned in the commercial, it's just a letdown.

Its all very good if this is Mass Effect 3, but we have known about it since before the 2nd game, and its still at least year before we will see it on shelves. Great.

not bad on their part ... when it comes to teasing the, and messing with the community its ok ... not even close to the shit valve pulls of, but not bad.

This detective work is childsplay compared to what Portal did.
