    BJ Armstrong is a retired point who played for the Chicago Bulls, Golden State Warriors, Charlotte Hornets, and Orlando Magic. Benjamin Roy Armstrong, Jr. was born on September 7, 1969 in Detroit, Michigan. He attended Brother Rice High School in Birmingham, Michigan.

    Armstrong would later attend the University of Iowa and would leave with the career assists record at the time. He was picked 18th overall in the 1989 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls. During his first season in Chicago the Bulls would reach the Eastern Conference Finals. In the subsequent three seasons the Bulls would win the NBA Championship each time from the 1990-91 season to the 1992-93 season. Michael Jordan would retire for the first time after the third championship.

    Armstrong was named an all-star for the 1993-94 season. On June 24, 1995 Armstrong was drafted by the Toronto Raptors in the Expansion Draft but was traded to the Golden State Warriors in September of that year for Victor Alexander, Martin Lewis, Michael McDonald, Carlos Rogers, and Dwayne Whitfield. He would play in all 82 games in the 1995-96 season.

    The following year he was used less by the Warriors, playing in 49 games. On November 7, 1997 he was traded to the Charlotte Hornets for Muggsy Bogues and Tony Delk. That season he would average 12.5 minutes played per game for Charlotte. On March 10, 1999 he was traded with JR Reid and Glen Rice to the Los Angeles Lakers for Elden Campbell and Eddie Jones. He was waived by the Lakers the same day.

    On March 14, 1999 he signed as a free agent with the Orlando Magic, where he finished out the season. The next season he signed as a free agent with the Chicago Bulls on August 30, 1999. He would average 7.4 points per game that season and 2.9 assists per game. It would be his last season in the NBA.
