    Blackbeard is the captain of the Blackbeard Pirates. He was formerly a member of the Whitebeard Pirates' second division led by Portgas D. Ace, up until he killed fourth division commander Thatch for the Yami Yami no Mi, and defected from the crew. His real name is Marshall D. Teach, like most D's, he believes in fate and his character is based heavily on the real-life Blackbeard.
