Hey Giant Bomb dudes n' dudettes. I wanted to share this painting I did for Borderlands. What I tried to do was to include some of my favorite elements about the game. There's a lot to pick from, but I wanted to go with just a few. I loved the "alien western" setting and the open-style of gameplay. I also think the Skag is one the best "henchmen" in games today. I see it as a sort-of modern-day Goomba. I also put the Outrunner there in the background.

The two contrails in the sky represent this being the sequel to the original.

Dude that painting looks so depressing but it's so good. I checked out the other posters and you definitely have the best one so I voted for yours. It's a shame that the one in first place is... well, kinda ugly. A darn shame. Clearly that person is doing a good job at the social networking thing.

Lol. I didn't mean to make it seem depressing, but I did want it to have a real moody look to it, so I can see why you say that. I'm glad you like it though, thanks a lot. I think you're right about the leader ... but I was in like 8th or 7th place on Sunday and I'm now in third. That's thanks to you guys

Yeah it is actually, but it's a digital painting. Painted in photoshop. Sometimes when I tell people I do that, they don't understand - they think Photoshop is just for funny ass pics! I still use an old Wacom 2 tablet.

I voted for yours, but truth be told you have terrible competition on there, yours is the best by a mile.

Nice work! The roadhouse area with the open plains was probably my favorite in the game.

And I, too, loved the space western/desert setting of Borderlands. To be honest, I'll miss the setting in BL2, which looks like it's all over the place now setting-wise. I'm afraid the game- as awesome as it'll probably be - might lose some of its identity in the process of making it visually more diverse.

Thanks Talicia, I really appreciate that. I worked hard on it, so I was stunned to see a copy n' paste job have 200 more votes than me at the beginning. Now I'm in the thick of it thanks to you guys

Thanks Captain. You might be right about BL2's setting, but I think some of that from the first game will come back.

The painting is really great.

But it doesnt really strike me as a Borderlands. its way to moody and sad looking.

Thanks a lot Talicia. I thought the 2nd picture on the bottom row looked nice, almost like a magazine illustration. Other than that, I agree with you. I'm not sure where the votes are coming from for those other pieces. And I'll never give up! It's a struggle to be true to what you want to do and to have it be accepted as well. So, you are right on.

@st0ve: It looks 'alright'. Its just the cast striking some dramatic poses however and I personally prefer the atmosphere and feeling of the game over its (main) characters. The world is what made Borderlands to me and you captured it perfectly.

Thank you very much, that was the goal for sure... man, now I feel like playing the game! I remember turning it on for the first time (had no expectations beforehand) and was just sucked into that whole landscape and the music and lonely feel to it.
