Some of you guys need to loosen the fuck up.
Thanks for the write up Jeff. The sad part is that I loved borderlands enough to play the sequel no matter what (barring it isn't outright terrible.) I really love it, though, when developers make improvements on their sequels based on feedback from the original game. So get on it Gearbox!
Ironic.Hey guys! Instead of having a good conversation about the game, let's just go on and on about one sentence at the end and discuss/argue about whether or not we thought it was funny or appropriate. That would be so fun.
I agree.VIDEO GAMES ARE FUCKEN' SERIOUS BUSINESS STFU EVERYONE!
Well excited for this game... i was never into the first but having watched the trailer for this and now reading this i need to rethink my life and play the first game quick so i am ready for this.
Also just looked at the expanded screenshots.
Gotta say the game looks way crisper now.
This is from the PC version i'm assuming?
Jeffrey T. Gerstmann - rarely as spirited as when talking Gearbox Games.
All those special memories of sinful Las Vegas Nights going all Randy on the town, mixing with genuine fondness for shooting dudes with a million randily generated virtual guns. Hell - doing booze blow and hookers with Gunzillionaire Pitchfork would make me drizzle genuine spittle too.
Looking forward to hearing more about it. Likely going to jump-in Borderlands 2 too - and since I passed on part 1, it will be an all original gaming experience too!
Booze Blow Hookers and Borderlands 2! HERE I COME!

Chill the fuck out, people.
My body is ready for you, Bordelands 2.
That's never gonna happen. It's the internet. The next complaint gonna be like: "The font size in this article is too small. This is garbage!"

@Jeff: You need to ask Gearbox if they have finally implemented some sort of sharing system, Diablo 2-style. Remember how bummed out you were about such an omission when the first game came out? They need to fix that.
they have

about halfway point
@Crispy: Yup, humorless hits the nail on the head.
How about if you're looking for a completely fact-based preview impression, with little to no injection of personality, you go to the MAJORITY OF OTHER GAME SITES ON THE INTERNET.
I can't speak for everyone who reads GB, but I feel pretty safe in guessing that most people come here for the guys' personalities, and Jeff in particular. I'm not saying you have to enjoy his jokes (I thought it was all right), but don't get your knickers in a knot.

I found this article disappointing.
I don't mind putting personality into written work, but not when it distracts from the actual content of the writing. When I say this, I'm actually not referring to the last paragraph of the story, but rather the (entire) paragraph with the dating simulation gag. An online audience is starved for time as it is; elongating a written article doesn't help portray information.
I know I'm coming off as humorless, but I feel it's particularly important to properly convey a message when writing a preview for a highly-anticipated title.
To be honest, I almost never write critiques of regular content such as preview work, but it was very distracting in this particular article.
If you're starved for time, what're you doing on here anyway? Research for your thesis paper?
He is also a dwarf.Gunzerker?
Man... MAN.
How many times can I reiterate my excitement for this fucking game?!

Is there going to be more weapon variance this time around because it always feat like borderlands had about 10 significantly different guns that were fixed drops and everything else was just variations on a few types.
And those more unique guns were almost always worse than what you found either 10 minutes before or after.

This was my big question? Without it I wont even consider playing with randoms.
Played it today at PAX and although my partner and I did kinda poorly (he decided to just charge forward and not shoot anything), it was really great.

@Napalm: Oh, are you so myopic that you think that this is some kind of Mass Effect 3 gag? You do realize that it's an ongoing issue now that someone's dragged Capcom into a similar situation over SFXT, right?
I was just hoping for a more original joke, Jeff!

Yeah. I wanted a better ending as well.

Ooh.
IF THOSE ISSUES AREN'T FIXED I WILL FILE A CLAIM WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU SO YOU BETTER MAKE IT BETTER THIS TIME OK?Because that's still funny, right, guys?
Seriously? Chill the hell out and don't get so pissy over a single sentence in the entire article. And yes it is funny because the people who filed complains with the BBB for the ending and for SFxT are sad individuals who need to rethink their priorities.
This write up was great.
Alex and Patrick articles are great and I wouldn't want to see them dwindle in any way but sometimes it's nice to see Jeff do an old fashioned write up.
Also BORDERLANDS 2!
I wasn't a huge fan of Borderlands. Something about it just felt... tedious-- like I wasn't getting to use my class abilities often enough to make it feel like anything more than a bone dry shooter with garbage AI and too many awful driving sequences.
This dating sim has me interested, though. Can't wait!
Sounds like the people whining about Jeff's joke are the same sort of penises that started online petitions or went to the bbb because of a games ending or because the did not get the characters they wanted. Get over it.
Jeff, Alex, Patrick, all of the guys write awesome and entertaining articles. If you don't like it then don't read it. Easy.
Also fucking lol @ peeps online being starved for time.
Anyways, I don't need to be sold on this game. First one was amazing and September cannot come fast enough.
I want to like this game, but I'm still too bitter about the steaming POS the first game was on PC, and how it was impossible to play online for months after release. Time will tell if all the sweet talk they have been shoving out about how this time it won't suck is just more BS to try and trick people into buying it like the first one, or if they will actually back it up.
