The only real question left to me is this: do I play with keyboard and mouse at the desk on my 27" 2560x1440 monitor, or do I play with a gamepad on the couch on my 65" 1080p TV?
What are you guys doing?

I would probably play more PC games in my living room if I had the following: a wireless mouse, a wireless keyboard, a wireless Xbox 360 controller + adapter (which they don't make anymore), and a way for my desktop to communicate wirelessly with my wifi setup. Alas, I don't have any of these things and as such am confined to my office.
I'll lay back in my recliner next to my computer monitor and play with the wired 360 controller. So comfy that way. K + M has more accuracy but I play games to relax so it just makes more sense to sit back and play with the controller in my hand. Back in that day controllers were terrible with PCs but nowadays its the same as playing a console so when I can I use a controller and plan on doing so with Boderlands.

Using a gamepad instead of a mouse for FPS gameplay just feels ass backwards to me, imprecise, slow and unnatural. Like using an inferior tool for the job when a much more effective one is right next to it.
I have no issues using a gamepad in action games, platformers, racing and the like, where it feels appropriate.
This seems kinda stacked in favour of the PC to me. Your monitor is higher res than your TV and you'll be sat closer anyway, rendering the physical size immaterial. On your PC you can play it with a mouse, the way God intended shooters to be played. If your PC isn't a POS it will almost certainly look a lot better on your PC.
So I guess weigh all of that against how much you like sitting on a couch, because that's the only advantage the console has here.
Keyboard and mouse. I'm a PC gamer for a reason.
You should go with whatever you find most comfortable though.
On a related note, I must be one of the few people that can't play most games while truly "relaxing." Even if I game while sitting on a couch, I usually sit up and lean forward. I don't think I could play games at all while laying back unless it was turn-based or something.

Fixed.
And for the record, keyboard + mouse. I only use gamepads for fighters, racing, and sports.
HDMI Extension + 6 FT Usb extension.. to a nice 60" screen at the end of my bed. I'll be gamepadding it up!
How do you game padders talk to dudes? Really long mic cable?
Or can you connect the 360 headset into the controller and have it work?
For me, it's going to depend on the feeling of the shooting. The original Borderlands had a bit of a delay for me (probably v-sync, I can't remember). I opted for the 360 controller at a desk.
Wireless KB&M + my homemade 'lapboard' (A thin, sanded piece of MDF) + fiddy inch TV + 5.1 sound system + comfy couch for sure.
The fuck-- using a controller to play on PC, especially an FPS just seems backwards as hell.
So yes, I'm sane so I'll be using K&M.
