A better story? Saved data being carried over from original? More enemy variety? More out of this world type weapons? Better competitive multiplayer?
Id like to see some sort of save data being carried going on so you can keep all your cool weapons, maybe you could have your level 50 guy to start but all the enemies are already level 50 and the cap is raised signifacantly

One of the progenitors of the "looter shooter" sub-genre, Borderlands puts players in a rag-tag team of "Vault Hunters" in search of vast alien riches as they fight hostile wildlife, gangs of bandits, and a mega-corp's private military.
So what would you like to see in the sequels?
" @Pie: I'm going to go ahead and go on record and predict DLC that raises the level cap above 50 and changes the skill trees, a la World of Warcraft. "Id love to see them change up the skill trees a bit, maybe they could throw in a new character just so you can play through the game again with a new guy
Personally, I think the skill trees could've been better. Less stat increase mods and more unique ones (like Brick's dashing punch). Also, I think WoW got it right when they end trees with a single-point badass talent. Finally making it to the end of your tree and then having to wait four more levels makes the achievement feel less awesome.
Also, silenced weapons and some optional stealth mechanics would be cool.
I have beef @Pie said:
" @MB said:I'd like them to renew quests, just for looting purposes, but I have the theory if there's nothing to do you buy DLC, so they'd never do that, it'd be cool if they did though." @Pie: I'm going to go ahead and go on record and predict DLC that raises the level cap above 50 and changes the skill trees, a la World of Warcraft. I just like the sense of tactfully playing a character role that Stalker gives, whereas Borderlands just offers 'RPG elements' instead. Sure there are classes to help facilitate this, but I dunno.
""I wonder what the story will be about, maybe it will be set two hundred years into the future and it will have patrica tannis's great great great great grand daughter, on the other hand maybe not.....I'd love to actually be able to go into the vault this time though..(it is an actual place right?)
No dawg. The Vault is a state of mind.
Frankly all I really want from Borderlands is a dedicated competitive aspect. After you reach level 50, there just doesn't seem to be a lot else to do except start over. I mean sure, some general fixes like making some of the Bosses not easily exploitable and some more mission variety would be nice, but that may very well come in an update or DLC. I think that some updated arena based battles like it has right now would be OK, but that isn't even neccesarily what I mean. Perhaps something like a Boss Rush mode, or hell why not Horde mode. Really, the game just needs a reason for getting more guns. The games biggest draw is getting more guns, and when you've gotten to the end game there doesn't seem to be much of a point to that unless you have a really dedicated group of people to duel with or need to grind out those last few levels.
Also some more NPC interaction would be nice. I guess.
Then again they might add all of that in a DLC, so whatever.
Hmm... how about an in-depth story. I thought they had the basis for what could've been a really sweet story, it just didn't seem finished or something...
Maybe some competetive online with some sweet maps based on the single player campaign would be sweet. New features added to new guns and a larger variety of enemies would be sweet too.
They also need to fix up the frame rate in some parts, and the AI is pretty crap for enemies stuck in corners etc.
Harder bosses would be sweet too. If they could incorporate them into the story as well that'd be good. So it's not just like "There's this dude called 9 Toes, we need you to kill him. GO!"
more and bigger environments, and id probably enjoy a realistic graphic style more than the one it has now
A better solution for PC online play. Pretty much busted at the moment. (You need to go through hoops to get it working.)
Though I suppose they'll probably fix the issue with a patch.
Hopefully...
Story doesn't matter much in this game, and I like the fact that I'm just exploring, shooting and looting without any hassle. No down time what-so-ever.
An actual character customization as well as armor would be nice. Shields are essentially armor, and they could have made them into outfits, if they had the time.
A sequel definitely cannot be in another desert environment. It would be hard to distinguish it from this game. More diverse settings would make this game all the better.
And better trade and loot options for MP, we aren't in the first Diablo era anymore.
"How bout all of those things plus a great marketplace/trading system? "
Totally agree with the need for a marketplace/trading interface
but someone was saying this could go the way of WoW with skill tree respec's and whatnot
that could actually be pretty great
i don't think there will be a sequel to this, just a large number of DLC's, even some bigger ones (in the $15-$20 range) that would be whole new expansions
For a sequel I would like a Sci-fi like city to play in. Any DLC would be good, Actually having armour would be cool too.
i'm good at not paying attention it seems..." @epilepsy: They have said that they want this to be a trilogy "
- A third person mode
- More customizable character, aesthetically speaking, perhaps armor.
- Trading system
I personally would like the option of either horizontal or vertical split-screen. While I have gotten used to the vertical split-screen in this game, it just doesn't seem to make sense to me why that was the view of choice and not horizontal. It's annoying when I go into the menu and have to constantly adjust the menu's location on my screen so that I can see everything.
More weapon manufacturers, equippable armor (just a chest piece and possibly helmet, no need to get too in-depth), better ui (pc version), better ai, better online system (use steam please).
Basically, more of everything with a fixing up of the first game's flaws.
Ok 1st and most important part is creat your own character or at least change cloth, haircut and those stuff. 2nd the world is not big enough...they said its 20% bigger than Oblivion which is BS cuz i played that game over 200h and havent even explored half of shit holes but in Borderlands evrything can be explored in uncer 30h.
- I'd like it if I could cycle through all my quests while still on the map screen. That way I can see what quests are located near each other. As it stands today, I have to move to the quest screen, select a quest to track, then return to the map screen to see where I need to search to complete it. I'd be easier if while the map screen was open I could click the d-pad to select a quest to track and then pop back and forth between a few revealing where all waypoints are located.
- I'd like to have a tab that organizes all my non-equipped items organized by sell-price. I'm always picking up weapons and items for sale later, but when I hit the max I can carry I need to drop the cheapest one for a newly discovered better item. I then have to cycle through all the stuff until I find something I think is the lowest sell-priced item I am carrying. It would just make things faster.
- Either improve the jumping or get rid of the jumping puzzles. I don't completely hate them but they feel floaty. Hunting down weapons parts often means traversing up to weird heights.
- Maybe this isn't in the PC version, but last night I noticed that when cars drive through water they leave no wake. I didn't notice at first, but now it is glaringly obvious to me.
- Movement for the NPCs...really, all of them just stand there like statues. This game needs some Fable 2-like life for the people.
- [Obligatory] More varied enemies, better (some!) story.
- Some sort of reminder/persistent alert when new quests are opened in other regions you've previously visited. Sometimes I can't remember where or when the droid tells me that new quests are available in some town. I'd just like a box in the corner that says "Blank says he has new quests for the vault hunter"
- The ability to change the difficulty mid-game. All my quests are green or gray. I'd like to find some harder ones, but I'm just following the quest path before me. If I could change the difficulty for the gray ones, it might make those less of a chore.
Don't get me wrong, this game has got its hooks deep into me. In fact, only the games I really enjoy do I give this much thought to. I have a list of complaints and suggested improvements for Crackdown, Mass Effect and Uncharted 1, too. I have Uncharted 2 but am still working through it.
More variety in the environment and enemies, a story that makes some kind of sense. The ending did nothing but confuse even more, just by not telling you anything.
And let me set more than one active quest diamond. In the gather log quest it would be nice to see where they all where so you could pick them up in the order you choose.
Also since I'm playing on computer, making the UI a bit more intuitive for mouse use would be very nice.
"Maybe this isn't in the PC version, but last night I noticed that when cars drive through water they leave no wake. I didn't notice at first, but now it is glaringly obvious to me."
Oh its there in the pc version...looks like youre just gliding over the water and is a little annoying for the more nit picky crowd such as myself.
In my opinion I would have liked to be able to switch class mods and grenade mods, on the fly for a little more strategy and not have to go through the menus to switch out mods that would help me in certain situations, because I didn't always need a transfusion grenade, but in mid battle its just a little clunky to have to change it in menu to something that can do more damage or have different effects.
Edit: Oh yeah and the ability to set waypoints on the map
