I get the impression he hasn't been playing it as much this year (especially the second half). But I think it would be pretty funny if he did.

Why can he pick Dota 2 so many times? Isn't GOTY the games that came out on that specific year? Does Dota 2 come out every year?

Considering the amount of games he is (was) considering for his top 10, I think he'll want the DOTA slot free.

No, it's totally Destiny.

It's going to MGS V people, he even hinted at it in a conversation with Dan saying "Depending on which way you lean between two games (for Dan that'S Mario Maker and MGS V), we should talk".

Destiny will probably be second.

It's really dumb to try and force rules on other people's game of the year lists. It's their list and unless GB makes some rules about they (which would be dumb), it should be up to the interpretation of the person making the list.

How is it bad form?

On the one hand, I don't think it has been a core enough part of his life this year to deserve the win again. On the other hand, I think it would be pretty funny if Brad gave Game of the Year to DOTA every single year until he gives it to LOL while also announcing his retirement.

I didn't force any kind of rules on their personal lists, I just asked if the GOTY lists are specific for each year or not.

Dotastiny

They act variably on it and usually leave it to the individual. Only the group Giant Bomb awards are where they stick to rules (which they can break at any point should they all agree to it). Some people think of the lists as instructive of the games that were literally released that year (with some murky water about early access/beta game releases) while others take it as the games that meant the most to them that year regardless of date of release.

As we all know @zombiepie's GOTY is going to be Final Fantasy VIII.

This year has seen Brad's passion for DOTA 2 wane for his new lover: Destiny. He cannot get away from that game, despite recognizing it's enormous flaws. So it's either this or Bloodbourne for Brad.

Side note: we need a saltybet-like system for GotY. I wanna put my virtual money where my virtual mouth is.
