Barver Battle Saga: Tai Kong Zhan Shi - Mo Fa Zhan Shi (太空戰士 魔法戰士) is an unlicensed Mega Drive RPG developed by a Taiwanese company named ChuanPu Technology in 1996. In an obvious attempt to cash in on the Final Fantasy franchise Barver Battle's subtitle is Tai Kong Zhan Shi (literally translates to "Space Warrior") which is what the famous JRPG series was called in Taiwan. Like many unlicensed games Barver Battle Saga features several copied graphics from other titles such as Seiken Densetsu 3 and even a stolen sound engine from High Seas Havoc. A Russian version of the game was later released and retitled to simply "Final Fantasy," which was infamous for its horrible computer translation. A much higher quality English translation was created years later by SteveMartin along with several other hackers. Version 1.0 of the English patch was released on February 21, 2010, translating the game's title as "Brave Battle Saga: Legend of the Magic Warrior."
