I think it's fair to say that Brink was quietly one of the most surprising games we saw back at E3. Splash Damage's next shooter looks like it will blend a flexible style of class-based action with a unique online-or-off multiplayer framework that... hey, you know what? E3 was like six months ago. I can barely remember what I had for breakfast this morning. So maybe you shouldn't take it from me.

Maybe you should take it from Splash Damage head honcho Paul Wedgwood, who's (finally) here with a whole bunch of video showing off what Brink is about. This is pretty much the same demo we saw at E3, and considering how promising it looks, I'm surprised they've just now released the footage to the public. But here it is, and you should watch it.

Hang on, wait a minute! There are two more parts, and here is the second

OK, done? Now watch the third. I'd show them all to you here, but embedding three Flash modules in a single page isn't something I'd do to my worst enemy.

What do you think of the game, as a shooter and as a new IP for Splash Damage and its publisher, Fallout house Bethesda?

We had the Paul Wedgwood (kick-ass accent btw) show it off at Gamescom, and I was amazed by this gem.

It feels like a Borderlands+Team Fortress 2 combination. My kind of thing!

Wait, posting three Flash embeds in one post is a bad thing? Maybe I should reconsider the 9ish in my next blog :P...

Looks a little jumpy in spots (though it may just be them playing in a way to show the environment) and i heard that one scream one too many times, but i really like the different objectives and class switching, i'll be keeping a eye on this one

Looks pretty interesting. This has been on my radar pretty much since E3. I really like the on-the-fly class-specific objective stuff. Reminds me a lot of Borderlands, but on a much quicker pace.

Hurray! Another FPS game! Just the other day I was thinking "You know what game genre is really lacking? The FPS genre. You just don't see those much anymore!"

On a more serious note; This game looks a hell of a lot like Killzone 2.

Except that this game has colour; or uses a bit more bright ones than in Killzone 2 anyways (that game had a fuck ton of contrast; which is actually something I like).

On a second note, this has gotten my interest. Any FPS that has a unique artistic style behind it is under my radar. I like how you can change class, slide to cover and tilt while in cover.

Ahahaha, yeah. Sometimes whenever a game manage to pull together a lot of influences from different games; it turns out to become a game of epicness. =D

Also am I the only person here who doesn't really mind about the character models? Maybe its just the fact that this game is so cartoony that I went along with the character models; despite how lean and tall they are. At least its better than having buffed up soldiers as if they were on roids though. Its a nice change.

Visuals, I'd have to concur with NoXious.  Very TF2 and the shipyard looks like a map straight out of Borderlands.  The way everything looks almost Killzone 2 though. Very bouncy and off-balance.  Don't know if I'm a fan yet.

Brad also asked about our feelings about this coming from the Fallout house in Bethesda.  Well that seems to be an unfair comparison because Brink is not being developed by Bethesda, at least not to my knowledge, like Fallout and even Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was before it.  Bethesda is only publishing this game from an out of house developer.  So in reality, this game needs to be compared with the likes of Wet and Rouge Warrior.  Bethesda's decision making on which games to back has been suspect, at best.  I'll retain my skepticism until I see some more footage and hear more from those not in charge of making or selling the game.

Looks pretty cool, I like the selecting objectives, thats pretty neat.

Not quite sure how I feel about it though, the shooting didn't seem very tight, but I will withhold any early judgement until a much later date closer to release. Seems like it might be good though.

You know what i'd like to see in a FPS? A button to lower your weapon.

"Here you go, guys, we'll let you hit X when all is calm to lower your weapon so that you aren't pointlessly aiming at everything. Oh, and just to make sure you don't accidentally activate it during combat, you have to press L1 at the same time as a preventative measure." How about that?

I imagine a FPS has already done this, but if so, why hasn't every successive game in the genre integrated it?

I just feel stupid ceaselessly aiming at an allied character that, potentially, i'm supposed to be forming an emotional attachment to when he/she's talking. It's really unnatural.

I think it's hilarious when he shoots his team mate at around the 3 min mark, and soon after shoots a guy through a window with almost a full clip to kill him. I might try this on PC, but it doesn't look like a lot of fun for me if I have to use a controller.

I think this will be good.  I never jumped aboard the Mirror's Edge ship with its parcour oriented gameplay so seeing it incorporated in this game has me excited.  And of course, a good FPS is definitely something I look forward to!

However, the UI when changing classes/loadout to help convey information more clearly.  I had to stop a few times to see what was on.  It's a minor adjustment, really.

I'm not sure exactly how the offline XP ranking system works, and how it integrates, but if this has a fully fleshed out MP component I will definately be getting this, the gameplay looks very innovative.
