Bruce Lorne Campbell is an American actor, writer, director, and producer. Best known for his starring role in the Evil Dead trilogy, he has since become a B-movie icon. His acting style is very "over-the-top", and is also great at "reverse acting", a film technique frequently used by director Sam Raimi (Spiderman) where action scenes are filmed in reverse of how they will actually apear on film. Campbell is well-known for his sense of humor and deadpan comic delivery.

Campbell was born in Royal Oak, Michigan, the son of homemaker Joanne Louise, and amateur actor and billboard inspector, Charles Newton Cambell. He has two older brothers, Don, and Michael his half-brother. He began acting as a teen and made small Super 8 movies with his friends. Campbell and Sam Raimi met in Wylie E. Groves High School and became close friends and started making movies together. After high school, he continued to work on his acting career while attending Western Michigan University.

A few years later, Bruce and Raimi got together with some family and friends and began work on The Evil Dead. Campbell starred in the movie as the lead character Ash, as well as doing some behind the camera work, getting him a "co-executive producer" credit. Raimi wrote, edited, and directed it. The film slowly began to recieve distribution rights following an endorsement by horror writer Stephen King. The film became a huge sucess in the UK, becoming a #1 seller. Following a sucessful British release, America started its one distribution of the independent film, thus spawning two sequels: Evil Dead II, and Army of Darkness.

Campbell has also made many appearances in Raimi's films outside the Evil Dead franchise, most notably including the Spiderman series. He is well known for making appearances in quirky roles, like Elvis Presley in the film Bubba Ho-Tep.

Along with those roles, Campbell also makes numerous cameo apperances in films. He tends to pop up in all genres of film and is often used as comic relief. As stated before, he has made appearances in Raimi's Spiderman trilogy. He played the wrestling announcer in the first Spiderman movie, giving Peter Parker the name "The Amazing Spiderman." In Spiderman 2, he played a stuck-up usher named Dylan Reid, who thoroughly criticizes Peter's appearance before refusing to let him into the theater. This eventually causes a problem between him and his love interest Mary Jane. Bruce has stated he is most proud of this particualar cameo, because he is the only villain to have foiled Spiderman and gotten away with it. His appearance in the final Spiderman movie in the trilogy, was as a French headwaiter enlisted by Peter Parker to help in proposing to Mary Jane.

In addition to his appearance in the Spiderman movies, Campbell has also lent his voice to the Spiderman video games.

He also made a cameo in Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters, appearing as Chicken Bittle; the crazy plastic surgeon in John Carpenter's Escape from L.A., and in the movies of Joel and Ethan Coen.

Campbell was married from 1983 to 1989 to Christine Deveau. They had two children, Andy, and Rebecca. He currently lives on a lavender farm in Jacksonville, Oregon, with his current wife, costume designer Ida Gearon.

He is currently playing Sam Axe in the the show "Burn Notice", which is in it's third season.
