Game » consists of 10 releases. Released Oct 13, 2009
Hey, it'd give me a reason to play it. Everything about that game seems right up my alley, so fuck it. I'd certainly buy it.
Wow, this surprised me a little. I wouldn't think they would release this game for the PC so late. I thought they would have done this years ago...but still, this is cool news!
That game may have been a huge disappointment, but if it comes out for $15 on Steam, that'll be a disappointment well worth revisiting.
Man, this game had such an amazing atmosphere and characters. I await this game's arrival on PC with baited breath.
I would definitely play it. I remember I played it on PS3 through Gamefly but was totally put off by the strategy portion and never finished it, but I'd definitely give it another go, especially with a keyboard and mouse! Hope this is true.
I probably would actually buy it then. The RTS gameplay that this game adopts towards the end seems much more enjoyable with a keyboard and mouse too, so it would be pretty cool to play the third-person action part with a controller and then switch to a keyboard and mouse upon reaching that last part of the game.
I dunno Brutal Legend for Xbox 360 ran rather choppy in frame rate so does Double Fine have what it takes to get that game running well without crashes or bad performance on PC?
Better late than never. If Double Fine can see some more money come out of Brutal Legend, that's great.
I might actually fucking play it if it comes to PC. The RTS stuff was fucking stupid on console, but on PC, the controls would be proper. I absolutely wouldn't mind switching from controller to KB/M just to have better control over all that shit.
I don't know. As a massive metalhead, that game just felt sooooo disappointing to me. Then again, they seemed to focus on the aspects of metal that kind of drive me insane most of the time. I'm more of a Pantera/Machine Head kind of metal guy than Ozzy/Motorhead kind of metal guy, despite having plenty of respect for the latter.
LOL @ people saying they would switch from controller to KB+M for 'the rts bits'. You DO realise that the 'RTS bits' are literally 10% giving orders to troops and 90% exactly the same action combos and teamup moves as the rest of the game, right? And that people getting the idea that they were supposed to treat the battles as an RTS minigame and play as a pseudo mouse cursor, rather than playing them like a goddamn action game and using all the fun combos and facemelting solos and teamup attacks that they WANTED to use (but for some reason believed to be Off Limits during the battles) was the entire reason those people didn't have fun in the stage battles?
Astonishingly enough, Double Fine didn't focus a game around an entirely new style of gameplay, spend years perfecting the mechanics etc etc for it to be broken and non-functional. The issue is with the way the game was advertised and how it presented its gameplay, causing people to play it in completely the wrong way and ignore all the tools that made the battles fun. And while I'm sure the game will be playable with a controller or a keyboard, just the thought of people consciously switching over is a clear demonstration of just how wrong some of you guys' understandings of what this game actually plays like are.
Okay, you can pre-order Brütal Legend on Steam and start playing the multiplayer beta RIGHT NOW: http://store.steampowered.com/app/225260/
I thought this game was very good and very underrated. It was funny, slick, ambitious (maybe too ambitious), and had a lot for players to do.
A lot of the criticism that I saw leveled against it came from the RTS components. The RTS was somewhat half baked but any skilled gamer should be able to get through it pretty easily. As with most RTS games on console, the primary issue is the controls, not difficulty or mechanics. A port to PC will not totally alleviate this because the game has a weird gameplay function where you still control your primary avatar even in RTS battles. So rather than controlling things from an omniscient camera a la Starcraft, you're flying around as Eddie Riggs giving orders to people as you see them.
The open world mechanics were a little half baked as well. Side missions were a little lackluster, but just seeing all the imaginative designs made exploration worth it. The ending felt abrupt but wasn't disappointing.
What really made the game awesome was Double Fine's quality writing and artistic vision. The voice acting was great too assuming you don't hate Jack Black. Any casual fan of metal music will find it hilarious. The brawler style action was great as well. I'd recommend it to anyone!
I really enjoyed my time with Brutal Legend. I sold my 360 a few months back along with all my games, so I'll definitely be picking this up on Steam.
My time from reading the tweet to purchasing this game was about 15 seconds. I don't think I've ever bought a game on Steam faster. Can't wait to get into the multiplayer with dudes, it's been SO LONG.
How are the K+M controls?
Normally I would prefer using a controller but it didn't work well with the rts aspect of the game.
Whoop whoop, this is going to be awesome. I loved the open world (headlights as GPS, genius!) and eventually the RTS sections when I got good enough at guitar solos, tag-teaming, and multi-tasking. Now I get to take screenshots! The RTS wasn't really complex or anything, I think it came down to the bait-and-switch marketing from EA (Double Fine wanted to promote the RTS bits more) and people's general distaste of RTS as a concept (go into any "games I can't get into/won't ever try" threads).

They seem serviceable but I'm one of those crazy motherfuckers who plays EVERYTHING on PC with a controller, so I really can't help you.
I bought it as soon as it was available. I really loved Brutal Legend a lot when it first came out and I'm of the opinion that people who didn't like the game were just bad at it at the time, including Ryan. The most exciting thing about that game when it came out was the fact it was the first game based around the music that focused on the culture surrounding the music. Great game, can't wait until it's released so I can revisit this gem.
Good Lord, there it is. I couldn't finish the game on console thanks to the god awful RTS controls, here's hoping the PC version resolves this problem. Everything else about that game is awesome, it would have turned out so much better if it was just a character action game with some squad commands like the first 2 thirds.
