So, I never really listened to much metal- and I have no idea why. I love so many of the tracks in this game. Was hoping some of the fans could direct me towards some good songs/albums/bands

To give you an idea of what I might like, my favorites in the game's sound track are...

    Angel Witch - Angel Witch
Symptom of the Universe - Black Sbbath
Cry of the Banshee - Brocas Helm
Queen of the Masquerade - Crimson Glory
Am I Evil - Diamond Head
Through the Fire and Flames - Dragon Force
    Pure Evil - Iced Earth
Battle Hymn/One Shot At Glory - Judas Priest
    Betrayal - Lita Ford
Dawn of the Battle - Manowar
    Beatiful People - Marilyn Manson
    High Speed Dirt - Megadeth
    Theives - Ministry
Kickstart My Heart - Motley Crue
    Mr. Crowley - Ozzy Osbourne
    Road Racin' - Riot
Riding the Storm - Running Wild
Soul Thrashing Black Sorcery - Skeletonwitch
Youth Gone Wild - Skid Row
    Master Exploder - Tenacious D

I know, that's a long list, but considering I cut that down from 100 songs - it's tiny. There are a lot of other great songs too.

I'm just tired of wanting to listen to music and having to start up the SP just to listen to the good stuff. I don't really want to listen to anything else atm. So, help me, point me in the right direction.

    Dr. Feelgood by Motley Crue
Slave To The Grind by Skid Row
    Painkiller by Judas Priest

Those are three good albums to get started with considering your list

If you want to jump straight into some black metal then you can try Wolves In The Throne Room which is some of the better black metal I've heard in awhile and has better production than most "better" bands in the genre.
If you wanna try some trash metal then you can't get any more essential than Reign In Blood by Slayer
Death metal I'd try Heartwork by Carcass or Gore Obsessed by Cannibal Corpse.
3 Inches of Blood and Manowar are so metal that it borders on parody. Great music though.

Brutal Legend reminded me that I haven't properly listened to metal in ages

Youtube those songs. If there's a band you like wikipedia them and take a look at their discography. Certain bands belong to certain genres, if you like Blind Guardian you probably like Power Metal in general, so wikipedia power metal and go through power metal bands; same for thrash metal, death metal (etc), just whatever you like.

This song was probably my gateway into metal.

I don't think I can give you more information than what has already been given to you. I will however suggest that if you like The Beatiful People from Marilyn Manson, go get a hold of the album it is on, Antichrist Superstar. I'd also recommend Mechanical Animals and Holy Wood. They kind of went downhill after that, but there are some more recent goodies as well. And since you said you liked the Ministry songs, I suggest you give Nine Inch Nails and Rammstein a listen. Both are huge artists so songs shouldn't be hard to find.

go for a couple of best ofs

    Skid Row - Best of
Ozzy Osbourne - Essential and also get Ozzy Osbourne - Tribute (best live album)
Iron Maiden - Edward the Great
Metallica - Master of Puppets (not a best of but dude, what an album)
    Megadeth - Best Of
    Queensryche - Greatest Hits

I don't think I got all the album names correct but best ofs are a good way to get you into the music. Then go back and get individual albums to find those hidden gems best ofs didnt include

Early In Flames is pretty nice, and SOME of the newer stuff is good, too. Anything Megadeth is worth having in your library. ANYTHING. Adding to the Lamb Of God suggestion, check out their newest album as well, Wrath. Slayer is absolutely facemeltingly awesome, IMO. Saw them live the summer before my freshmen year, and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Check out Reign In Blood, and Christ Illusion. BLIND GUARDIAN. HOLY CRAP WHAT AN AWESOME BAND. My only dissapointment with this game was the lack of BG. This is what Power Metal is all about. As for albums, I suggest A Twist In The Myth and Imaginations From The Other Side. Fear Factory is pretty good, I suggest the album Archetype.
