Bubsy starred in a series of 2D side-scrolling platformers that rode on the popularity on other successful mascot franchises, mainly Sonic the Hedgehog. He was noted for wisecracks and cartoony personality; the latter most relevant in his death animations which included breaking into shards of glass and deflating like a balloon. His main enemies were the Woolies, a just as cartoonish alien species.
His video game career was abysmal: ending on a sour note with release of Bubsy 3D. His first, and only, 3D debut was panned by critics and fans alike. Until 2017, there have been no other games starring him, most likely due to the lack of popularity and the closing of Accolade. After this a reboot with Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back was released which was once again panned.
Bubsy also starred in a pilot for his own cartoon series, but it was never picked up.
