Burning Rival is a 2D fighting game developed by SEGA-AM2 and released by Sega for arcades (running Sega System 32 hardware) exclusively in Japan on July 1993.

The first fighting game from Sega's AM2 team (whom would later develop the long-running Virtua Fighter series) and one of three sprite-based fighting games released by Sega (after Dark Edge and Holosseum, both also released for Sega System 32 hardware), Burning Rival is a traditional 2D fighting game in the vein of Street Fighter II. It is known for its use of anime-style hand-drawn graphics.

The game includes eight playable characters, one of whom is fought twice as the final boss.

    • Arnold (Karate)
    • Asuka (Ninja)
    • Bill (Footballer)
    • Craze (Fighter)
    • Jackson (Boxer)
    • Mr. Chin (Kung Fu)
    • Santana (Wrestler)
    • Shingen (Ghost, fought twice: once as a normal opponent and one as the final boss)
