Holding hands implies a second character or object, often controlled by AI, who must be physically escorted through the game.
When a game lacks the ability to "Pause" Game Play by pressing Start on a game console controller (or some other button on a keyboard/mouse).
If the game allows, intended or optional, to influence the buttons and levers, not only by pressing them in close proximity with your hand/sword, but also by firing weapons at them, controlling them with magic or throwing objects at them from afar
