I'm buying the Hardened edition because it comes with Elite for $40, and you cannot pass up a deal like that. But... I have no idea what I'm actually buying. I know I'll be getting a regular infusion of maps, but that's really all that I know about it. What exactly am I paying for?

Its like battlelog but for call of duty and you have to pay for it but I think it includes a season pass for DLC.

Now that everyone's been dicks about answering, I'm wondering how this stuff will actually manifest - tournaments and training videos and the nebulous "20 pieces of DLC". Elite could be really interesting.

Elite is essentially Activisions play to carve out a social media niche with the CoD name but instead of just building a app inside Facebook they made their own site Elite. From the looks of it Elite will give you a bunch of clan support and tools you would normally find on MLG/Gamebattles for organizations but also more in depth stat based info like from Bungie.net but hooked into all of the CoDs.

From what I've read the large majority of it is free to use with the only stuff stuck behinde a paywall is the bigger clan support and persistant challanges for prizes and stuff as well as more Youtube funcitonality.

What system are you playing on Xbox or PS3? It'll be interesting how PS3 elite paying members get the DLC if they get it along with the Xbox players or are forced to wait another month like the rest of the PS3 players.
