I personally don't understand why they need to please the 1% who enjoy doing it. I mean look at this. This clearly shows that it is easy to abuse the system to pull off these kills while using a gun that is not meant for close range. If they wanted to make a game that was fast paced and gun on gun, why not just take out snipers all together?

What is your position on Quickscoping?
If it were up to me I'd remove all forms of instakill weapons from online shooters so you actually have to get a fucking headshot.
It's exploiting a weakness in the system. Which is exploiting a weakness in the system.
If the devs got on their backs and waggled their tails to the community then congrats to those who like playing with quickscope kills only.
The rest of you are welcome to another game with a three in it.
Thank god you don't make games then.If it were up to me I'd remove all forms of instakill weapons from online shooters so you actually have to get a fucking headshot.

I know right? The industry would crash from everyone only ever buying my games and nothing else.
I don't mind or care to be honest. And that didn't seem like it was as "quick" as it was for MW2(and I should know I played it couple off days ago with my cousin and he used it..). So yeah, and as someone else here mentions its really not that hard to kill them, especially if you have a shotgun(like spas-12).
I don't get how it works, to be honest. How does quickscoping mean automatic kill? I seriously don't know why that's effective?
I forgot the title for that video said MW3 almost instantly and thought it was just clips from previous games to show what quickscoping was. I am a grand idiot but that says something
Seems like the kind of thing that makes playing online no longer fun. I understand it requires skill, but it reminds me of AWPing in CS.
Most people who try to quick scope wind up sucking ass at it. I'll gun them down with my AK-47 while they keep missing shots that could easily be taken with a pistol.
You would destroy the industry with your headshot focused games.@laserbolts said:

its an exploit and an easy way to get a kill. in cod, all you gotta do is center your screen on a dude and shoot. now at least for assault rifles and any other gun that isnt insta-kill, you gotta be able to follow the guy and account for what little recoil cod has. but with quickscopers, its aim, zoom , shoot, insta-death. i find it stupid and incredibly annoying but hell, you bought the game, play it how you will. just know that you are not getting any respect from me haha
I don't care for it but we will have to see how bad it is in mw3 when it comes out. I don't think the sniper rifle should be used in a manner that makes it work like a shotgun. You should have to look into your sights in order to get that accuracy bonus that sniper rifles have.
It requires no more skill than using any other glitch/exploit. Now I don't care a whole lot, but I will usually set people who do it to an avoided player so I don't have to worry about them.
I suck at it, so sure... take it away... it wont affect me :P but it would be nice to be able to tag players as "jerk" ... just flash it on their screen "somebody thinks you're being a jerk." I popped in Black Ops the other day and there are teams of spawn campers on some maps that ruin the fun.

Not really, no, if it was that easy, everyone would do it, and everyone would be good at it, that is not the case.
but it is that easy. since snipers in cod just immediately snap to where the center of your screen was, all thats left is immediately pull the trigger and boom! instakill. once you get a good sense of where your center is, quickscoping is basically getting easy kills. in mw2 (keep in mind this is before i realized mw2's multiplayer was imbalanced garbage) i looked at a killcam of some kid quickscoping me and i got impressed. i decided i would try. then i realized how ridiculously easy it was once you get a few games into it. i started getting AC-130s and whatnot but i felt like a total dickhead. its just an exploit of a poorly designed zoom time.
I hate the idea of quick-scoping. I mean, a quick-scoper is essentially abusing the aiming model of the game to pull off cheesy kills. I feel like it displays the far too generous auto aim/aiming model as a broken and need to be fixed mechanic because that isn't the way a sniper rifle should behave in a combat scenario. However, I do recognize that it is in the game and is therefore fair play, but that doesn't make me feel okay with it at all. My solution: quitting and/or dashboarding out of the game to do play with people that don't abuse the aiming.
It's an exploit of the auto-aim, named and branded by kids to deceive themselves and others that they're being skilful rather than cheap.
But with that said, the fact that it still exists means the developers must know about it and must have decided it isn't a problem. Fine, but I would gladly play in a no sniper/assault rifles playlist to avoid that headache.

I hate quick scoping. I just don't like the concept of someone using a sniper rifle as a close range weapon. I know the game isn't real, but there's this layer of reality that I want to exist and the quick scoping just tears that reality down for me.
Totally agree
I couldn't care less, really. I do them occasionally, and it works well. It's also quite fair, in my opinion. Others can use grenade launchers, RPGs, and any number of guns to avoid it, and if I miss, I'm almost guaranteed to die against a decent player. It's fair enough to me.

Sniper Rifles in most FPS games get a massive boost to accuracy, and sometimes damage, when you enter scoped mode to fire. Quickscoping involves very briefly entering scope mode just as you fire so that you get the accuracy boost while still retaining the full fov around you. It basically make a Sniper Rifle effective at any range, given you have the skill to line up the shot without the scope in the first place.
And so begins the next wave of Call of Duty montages that are overly edited and set to generally crappy music (probably Dubstep as it seems popular this year).
Why do they allow this shit in multiplayer? Are there really people crappy enough that it warrants putting an auto-aim feature in the game? Seriously, playing a FPS on a console isn't hard.
I used to not really care that much about quickscopers. I tried it a couple times in CoD4 and MW2 with very limited success.
However, last night I gave it a shot in MW3... holy cow it's way way easier. I'm concerned in the long term it'll just be stupid quickscoping sniper battles. Even hard scoping is much easier.
