I still dont know if I am going to get the game because Skyrim comes out soon after and I only have enough money for one, but I am getting really excited for the game. I dont know how Infinity Ward manages to do it, but every year two years I go into the fall thinking CoD is going to be the same old game and then IW releases some video or something of the online stuff and I suddenly become hyped for the game. There have to be others who are excited as well. Not everyone can already hate the game, right?

Who is getting excited for Modern Warfare 3?
You probably won't find people hyped about the game here, but there are defiantly people out there like myself who are pumped.
It would help if you used the MW3 forum to talk about MW3. I'm a big Call of Duty fan, I have over 10 days experience in Black Ops, and I can't wait until MW3. It really is going to have some significant changes that look like they'll really help with the game's balance.
But with all that said, if I could only get one game this year, it would have to be Skyrim.
Sorry I lost interest in COD.
Cool that you're hyped though, hope it doesn't disappoint you like BO disappointed me.
Infinity Ward has't made the last two games including this one. Technically the name of the company that made this one is IW, but all the leads and half the employees are no longer there.
That being said if you enjoy it that's good for you, but I do feel like all the FPS games of the past two or three years are pretty much the same.
Nah. From what I've seen of the MW3 videos it looks like more MW2. I really enjoyed Black Ops but am burned out on CoD since playing Bad Company 2. I chose Battlefield 3 instead because that style of gameplay is more my thing. So yeah, giving CoD a pass this year for the first time since MW.
If the games weren't released every year and Infinity Ward wasn't a shell of it's former self I would be excited. I hope it's at least decent though, a lot of my friends are excited about it and I would hate for them to feel ripped off.
Not really. I'm burned out on FPS as of late. I'm sure it'll be a fun game in some way or another but from what I've seen it's all too familiar territory for me to drop 60 quid on. I'm more interested in seeing how it'll do against BF3 since EA keeps ragging on it. Not that I really care about it but it's interesting nonetheless.

See, I thought the game wouldnt look very good because a lot of the IW employees left, but it looks better than MW2 was (at least the online, so far). It looks like they have recognized that the past games were really only suited for the people who racked up kill after kill instead of the objective players, and this time around they are introducing a lot of things for people who play differently. A lot of the additions are really smart. Still a little worried about the campaign. Say what you want about the previous campaigns, but a lot of people find them entertaining and I am one of those people.

Luckily I love FPS's, but I can completely understand how someone could be completely burned out on FPS's. If that is the case, it might be best to refrain from buying an FPS this fall and save yourself for Bioshock next spring.
It looks ok but i'm just worried that balance will go out the window or it will just be no enjoyment of learning a weapon or class.
As someone who doesn't care about mp at all, I'm super excited. I love batshit crazy single player campaigns. U3 next week and then MW3 the week after. I'm in ridiculous overkill heaven
MW3 comes out tuesday and Skyrim Friday right? hmmm.....Nov 11 is a holiday, I wonder if Best Buy will still be open I really want to play Skyrim.
CoD is an event too in some ways: you go home, connect with your friends, see all the new features, make some hot food to stave off the cold outside, play for 3 days straight and skip work, prestige, get tired of the game and hacks and mods and put it back on the shelve.
Then you wait to do it all again in 9 months.
Yeah I'm excited!
Kinda. I pre-ordered but I'll be watching early reviews like a hawk. The Sledgehammer / IW business is still a unknown quantity. So there's a chance i may see a last minute preorder change to Saints Row 3..... I do want Skyrim but that will be a GOTY purchase next year.
I'm wrapped up in BF3 right now, but about the time MW3 comes out, I'll be ready to interject some of that in the middle of everything. Especially since I play BF3 on PC and MW3 on console -- so it's a good way to break out my time. Some time with both, occasionally hunched over a keyboard and other times relaxed on the sofa. Good times. :)
Yeah I am, I know it's more of the same but I look forward to some fun multiplayer shenanigans with my friends
MW3 looks good, but my money will be going towards Corpse Party and Skyrim this fall.
No time or money for MW3.
Ah is Skerrred!!! To be forthright, I am strictly sp campaign, so it is those glasses I look through. And well, the heads of Infinity Ward are gone. Doing the game are elements of the IW survivors, Raven, and PPl. from Dead Space. Not bad, but it is like somone said in a comment where I read this. (news article at steam I think) that in effect you are looking at a 3 headed dog. That is bound to go well,... uhm right?. On top of that Treyarch has been relegated to the Wii game. Ironically, they finally met me halfway, personally at least, with Black Ops...Hey it worked! Wasn't no COD3 was it?..and it was better than World At War too. I liked Black Ops, in the hyper-real Movie production/media way Vinny described once on some Bombcast. So there is bound to be some pain there.
I pre-orderd MW3, but I am sort of sorry I did so. I guess I could go and cancel that, but I won't. Here's hoping that they make what I care about work. I hope the MP works for others, also.

I've played Black Ops since it was released, and never saw even one example of hacking or modding. There were some overpowered weapons, an issue that let you re-roll a sam turret or sentry gun like a care package, and when the game first lauched the some of the spawns were awful. All of this was fixed, and rather quickly.
Infinity Ward has a lot to live up to this time around, and MW2 was broken trash for ages, but Black Ops had great support.

@SpaceInsomniac: yep and now the people who made MW2 are back, so expect more of that....
Actually, I don't expect more of that. Treyarch has done too good of a job with Black Ops for the MW3 team to not hold up their end. And if Activsion wants people to keep buying DLC, they're going to have to let Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games keep their game patched and properly balanced.
Not even S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Really? Come on dude, you have to give recognition to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.!I dont play FPS's but if i did, i would probably still get Skyrim.

Do you guys think that the TV spot claiming it to be "THE MOST ANTICIPATED GAME OF ALL TIME" is accurate? I personally think it's bullshit. I've heard way more buzz about BF3 and Skyrim this year.
Black Ops holds the record for the largest entertainment launch in history, and this is the next game in that series. There's also a good chance that Battlefield and Skyrim combined won't sell as many copies as MW3, as insane as that might be.
With that said, I'm a big fan of Call of Duty, I have MW3 pre-ordered, and I'm still anticipating Skyrim more.
I had an internal debate whether to go with this or BF3. I want BF3 for my PC but I need to update my graphics card first so MW3 it is. I'm excited for it.
I was ready to call it quits on the MW series but after trying out the beta for BF3 and not really getting into it that much I've decided to go back to what I've been playing since CoD 2. With every new mp trailer released I get more and more excited. I am really looking forward to Skyrim as well but the social aspect of playing with a bunch of your friends over Xbox Live on MW3 helps trump Skyrim a bit for me.

Doesn't every big new game release claim that these days?
Regardless, it will be one of the big sellers of the year. Even if a lot more savvy gamers have lost interest, there's still the flocks of casual players who are going to eat it up, Skyrim doesn't stand a chance against it. Battlefield will hurt it though, I don't see it selling as well as the past ones, and it's only going to get worse from here. Personally, I can't stand to play another military based FPS of any kind.. I don't see why either of these are at all exciting. At least the Halo games have some lore behind them and are spaced out by a few years.
