Overview
Call of Duty: Warzone, originally released as Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, is a free-to-play modern-military first-person shooter developed by Raven Software (along with Infinity Ward and several others) and released by Activision for the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 16, 2022.
A sequel to the Call of Duty series' large-scale multiplayer spin-off series Call of Duty: Warzone, integrating with the series' 19th entry (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II) while featuring a new large-scale map (Al Mazrah), a new extraction game mode ("DMZ"), and several gameplay changes (including swimming / aquatic combat).
Earlier versions of the Battle Royale mode included a reworked Gulag system, the removal of the cash system, and AI-controlled NPC enemies, all of which were removed or reverted in later updates. Additional maps and modes from the original Warzone were added in later updates, and the game was later integrated with the series' 20th entry (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III).
