OH MY GOD! Listen both developers are owned by the same parent. ACTIVISION. So in that case Treyarch did not rip off COD 4. Activision wanted another money making game on the market. So how could Treyarch copy Infinity Wards entire layout of gameplay without being sued? WOW it doesn't take rocket science to figure it out.

No, it wasn't. There was an issue with IW feeling like the Call of Duty banner was being misused and it belonged to them...the OP seems to not understand what the real issue was.

Anyway, why are we discussing this...this was an issue a year or so ago, but at this point no one cares.

@CoolDrMoney: Well Waketowakekid clearly doesn't realize that everyone is already aware that Activision owns the CoD franchise and that everyone also already knows that Treyarch simply reuses the same game engine that IW develops for the previous CoD iteration. There are some issues in there worth discussing...just not the ones he went on about in the first post.

no i just hate reading numerous posts in all these cod forums that say Treyarch stole it, or they suck. It's just annoying that no one uses common sense. Thats all.

They both make quality games, but Infinity Wards are a little better. World at War was not the pile of shit IW nuts make it out to be. It was Modern Warefare for people who like World War II. Not everyone share's Jeff's random hatred for that setting.

They may not have stolen the code directly, but they sure as hell made it look like it.

I used to believe that Treyarch wasn't shit and that only IW could make good CoD games, that is until I bought WaW.World at War is an amazing game that easily rivals CoD4 in my opinion.Plus it even 1up's ModernWarfare in a couple of areas like campaign co-op and Nazi Zombies (althoughI personally still prefer the modern guns in CoD4).Treyarch out did themselves and put out the best game they ever made and the best WWII game ever made. Both developers should be given proper respect.

treyarch IS shit, with W@W they make another WWII with the same exact story of every major WWII movie ever made piled onto one. It was just a bunch of random WWII cliche's after another.

"storm the building comrads, take the snoper rifle and only shoot when an artillary strike hits, use the flame thrower to take out bunkers, hit the beach in a transport boat, BUT OH NO! OUR BOAT WAS HIT BY A MORTAR!, SWIM TO SHORE AND MEET UP WITH YOUR COMMANDING OFFICER! oh ok, its almost at the end of the game, but OH NO, YOUR SHOT BY AN ENEMY ONCE IN A CUTSCENE! oh, your ok..."

that about sums up the entire single player experience, no memorable characters, no real plot, nothing.

The point, that even Infinity Ward will argue, is that they made a great game by copying another established game almost completely. They don't come up with their own novel ideas, they just make more of the same. They aren't a bad developer, by any stretch of the imagination; just not an innovator. Of course, maybe that's only because they're under the heel of Activision, who keep telling them to just carbon copy another game so they can print more cash. Unfortunately, we won't know until they try out an original ip, and to do that, they pretty much have to ditch Activision, which will never happen.

Well i am sure that Treyarch had some great idea to bring to the new game. But Activision limited them, to just a CoD 4 clone in WW2.
