So a friend of mine had a 40gb PS3 launch model and apparently playing WaW caused his PS3 to break.  Apparently the way that WaW was wrote to the disc causes the disc drive to spin to fast in the launch models and breaks the blu ray lens or something like that.  I did a little research and found a tech blog that reinforces the rumor of the error and since I have a 60gb launch model and don't want to risk it I haven't played the game since.  I'd really like to play some Nazi Zombies though and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this or has any knowledge of the error or if it's been fixed through an update or something.

Well, considering how old WaW is, I doubt that this is a major, widespread problem, because this is the first I've every heard of it, and haven't read it on any other sites. I know a couple people that play it on launch PS3's, and they haven't had any problems.

yeah I've been thinking of taking the risk...I'm just really scared since I don't want to lose my launch system

That game sold millions of copies, so it would probably be a pretty known thing and I've never heard of it before.
