Multiplayer Fans Need To Avoid This One (Map Pack 3 Review)
I was very excited about Map Pack 3, but unfortunately, the new multiplayer maps are so weak that it's not worth the 800 points unless you're a Nazi Zombies fan. The new maps are way to large and confusing. Treyarch said the fans wanted big maps. They said the fans didn't want "sniper fests or SMG fests". The new maps combine both of those. It's nearly impossible to take 10 steps without getting sniped by a player with an MP40 (although that's true for every map in the game), and going into one of the many buildings on all of the maps will get you killed instantly because of the places you can camp.
The only thing that makes Map Pack 3 worth the 800 points is Der Riese, the new Nazi Zombies map. I haven't had this much fun since Nacht Der Untoten. The map is wonderfully designed and has many exciting new features, such as the Pack-A-Punch machine. After linking up all of the mainframes in the map, you can insert your weapon into the machine and it comes out with a new design and awesome capabilities. Try putting your pistol into it. When it comes out, you'll be able to fire grenades with it. The map also has a teleporter for quick getaways and multiple rooms to unlock and doors to open. The Mystery Box is back, but thankfully it doesn't seem to go away as fast as it did in Shi No Numa.
All in all, Map Pack 3 was a bit of a disappointment. The multiplayer maps are pretty frustrating and I can safely say that I won't have any desire to play them in the future. However, the new Nazi Zombies map is fantastic (this is coming from a person who hated every Nazi Zombies map after Nacht Der Untoten) and it alone is probably worth 800 points. If you're only into the multiplayer, you might want to avoid it. If you're a Nazi Zombies fan, you'll definitely want to add Der Riese to your collection.
