Overview
Camp Crystal Lake is a setting used in the majority of the Friday the 13th series of films as well as games based on them. It is a summer camp that was forced to close after a young boy named Jason Voorhees drowned in the lake and two counselors were murdered the following summer. Various attempts were made to reopen the camp, but all of them ended in failure due to the interference caused by Jason's mother Pamela, who had gone mad after her son drowned. After she murders most of the counselors intent on reopening the camp in 1979, Pamela herself is killed by the lone survivor.
Jason, however, had not actually drowned in the lake. Physically deformed and mentally handicapped, he lived for years in the woods as a hermit. After seeing his mother die, he continues where she left off by killing people that venture into the camp and other properties surrounding the lake.
