So during Chapter 3 level 1, right after you meet the fairies, there's a dead knight with a scroll on him that literally says "...I can happily declare that the 'Cake' is not a lie!" WTF Castlevania...WTF.

Weirdest "cake" reference ever...
I was beginning to wonder if I was the only person who noticed that.
I don't see any problem with it though, because it is such a ridiculous time/place for a reference.
That isn't the only Portal reference in this game.
Hell, it's not even the only blatant reference to other games in it as well.
Made me smile
I think this falls into the category of not far away enough to be nostalgic but not close enough to be relevant. Kind of like most Capcom products.
Don't do cake kids, ok

I guess they realized right before their deadline that they needed anolther Portal reference and came up with this one after five seconds of brainstorming.
" @steevl: Haven't played Castlevania yet. What is the other Portal reference? "In the Necromancer's Abyss level near the end of the game, you find a brotherhood knight scroll that says "I am trapped on this floating rock. This land is one huge, insane puzzle with hundreds of mirrors that can transport you anywhere; such is the so-called 'Aperture Magic' from the Necromancers..."

"This made me grin because I didn't get the joke for a few seconds. Probably the best Portal reference I've ever seen.

" The absolute best reference I've seen in any game was Borat in Singularity. "do share

" @IkariNoTekken: The game has a lot of diaries / logs that are just for reading, this is one of the ones you read. "That's a shame, thanks for letting me now anyway.
ok i know one person that keeps saying the cake is not a lie or something like that. what does it mean?
" ok i know one person that keeps saying the cake is not a lie or something like that. what does it mean? "It is a reference to the game Portal, here look at this.
" We're still making cake references? Listen, once I realized the cake has been a lie since Super Mario 64, I've been done with it. "Hey yeah, she makes a cake at the end, but where is the cake that she made before he came? WTF Peach? Were you just calling me over for...ok yeah, thats cool.
" @Ahmad_Metallic:oh god thats fucking AWESOME !!!!
