Well the time is quickly approaching for me to place my preorder on this game.  From comments on the Joystiq podcast and coverage on IGN linked elsewhere in this forum, Konami has been letting press play on what seems to be a near final (possibly final) version of the game.  Most early signs seem to point to a compelling game.  However, now I am in the quandary of which console to preorder the game for.  Generally, it is a safe bet to choose the platform which has been used by the publisher to display the game to the press, but no one has mentioned yet in a preview which version they've been allowed to play.

None of the usual indicators that would push me towards one console or the other (online play, FPS, heavy dpad use) seem to be a factor here. They are using a proprietary engine so there is not even a history to see how well other games using the engine have played on the two consoles.  There is simply no available information to use to make an educated decision.

In the past when there was no info, I've erred on the side of caution and simply preordered both versions on Amazon and simply cancelled one before shipment.  However, it seems like Amazon had started moving items to "shipping soon" status earlier than in the past AND it seems like more and more games have review embargoes until the very last minute.

Has anyone heard which version they've been displaying to the press?

I have played the full version of the game on both PS3 and 360 at a recent Konami event.  It is almost identical.  Not sure if that helps.  Basically boils down to which controller and online community you like better to show off the massive number of achievements in game :-)
