Okay so I get that this isn't a big deal and that it will probably still happen eventually, but why announce this? Why risk pissing people off? 
 
The popularity of Persona 3 and Persona 4, though the latter more so, has given Catherine a tremendous amount of notoriety within a lot of gaming communities. Compared to something like Radiant Historia, Catherine is pretty much a triple A block buster title for Atlus. 
 
I just don't get this at all. 
 
Unless Atlus is just doing this to gauge fan reaction I have to assume that the NA office is just completely ignorant to the following this thing has.

Since the game had a blockbuster Japanese release, it is really hard to believe this isn't going to happen.  Unless of course, that the localization of the game would somehow ruin it.  In that case, I just want the game translated.  That would be fine. I think this is just PR, I really think the game is coming out.  I just don't think Atlus knows how to sell it here yet.

Even though they always say this (it seems) it still makes me sad.
 
Game looks crazy and sadly I cannot read Japanese, or even remotely understand the language, so I won't be able to enjoy playing this game until they localize it.
 
They may still release it here, though. You never know.

persona 3 took over a year to bring stateside, so "no plans" right now means it's a wait and see attitude.  
 
atlus has always been about their fans, and if they hear enough people crying about this, then they will release it. they released Demon's Souls even though people thought it would be "too difficult" for the US, and it became one of their best sellers.

Someone over on the atlus forums got a screen shot of gamestop posting it for sale with a release date of 7/26/11. Also just because they say it doesn't make it true there probably tired of getting asked about it at this point. Plus its not like there the only localization team in the US, they may not being doing it but that doesn't mean that aksys or someone else might be doing it.

This disapoints me, especially with all of the underground buzz about this game. People want to play it, but I'm not sure if it has the mass appeal to sell (although, they took the chance with Demon's Souls, so really, no excuse).

Catherine was in the official Playstation UK mag as one of the 10 games to watch for 2011.  So Sony is pretty confident about it getting localized.

It may be a while, sure, but Atlus is usually pretty good about bringing over the stuff people want to play.

I played P3, P4, and Devil Survivor and I love Atlus games, but Catherine just looks like a crappy block moving puzzle game with bits of story sprinkled in. No great loss there imo.
