Overview
Charizard appears on the title screen of FireRedThe final of three forms, Charizard evolved from Charmeleon, who evolved from Charmander, one of the three starter Pokémon in Pokémon Red/Blue. Charizard takes on the flying type in addition to Charmeleon's fire type, it's wings having fully developed to allow it to remain aloft. Powerful in its own right, with the use of special moves such as rock smash, Charizard is a force to be reckoned with.
Charizard is found in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as one of the three Pokémon Trainer's Pokémon fighters. It uses rock smash as a mode of attack in addition to being able to fly further than the other two Pokémon used, Ivysaur and Squirtle. When used for an extended period of time, Charizard becomes fatigued, it's fire powers dimming until it is switched out and given a chance to rest and recover. The Pokémon Trainer's Final Smash utilizes Charizard along with his counterparts to send a beam of combined energy at their foes.
The fully evolved Charizard's flame are so hot, they can melt boulders. If Charizard gets carried away, it can start a forest fire.
Evolution
Charizard evolves from Charmeleon at level 36, and Charmeleon evolves from Charmander at level 16. When it evolves, Charizard gains the Flying type in addition to Charmeleon's Fire, making Charizard a Fire & Flying-type Pokémon.
Mega Evolution
Mega Charizard XStarting in Pokémon X/Y, Charizard may perform a Mega Evolution during battle while holding a Charizardite X or Y. Depending on the version of Charizardite held, he will change into different forms.
