June 10-11 is a pretty packed week in game releases. On the 10th we are getting Final Fantasy 7: Intergrade and the Ninja Gaiden Master Collection. June 11 will mark the releases of Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Guilty Gear Strive and Game Builder Garage. But there is an upcoming indie game that's also coming out on that same week that is sort of like what would happen if you combine classic Over head Zelda Gameplay with a humongous coloring book. This game that's coming out is called Chicory: A Colorful. This is an upcoming game being published by Finji (known for publishing Night in the Woods, Overland and Wilmot's Warehouse) and is being developed by Greg Lobanov who is the same developer behind Coin Crypt and the incredibly underrated Wandersong. The OST is composed by non other than Lena Raine, who composed the excellent OST for Celeste as well as composing music for Guild Wars 2, the Nether Update for Minecraft and most recently Sackboy's Big Adventure. Notable team members behind Chicory also include sound designer Em Halberstadt who did sound design for Night in the Woods, Wandersong and Untitled Goose Game, character artist and animator Alexis Dean-Jones and Environmental artist Madeline Berger.

In this game, the player takes on the role of a dog who happens to be the #1 fan of their land's current magic paint brush wielder Chicory (also like Zelda, the game is named after a key story character but not the playable protaganist). But one day all the land's color vanishes and Chicory has gone missing. The dog finds the magic paint brush and decides to borrow it to bring color to the world, search for Chicory's whereabouts and try to find out what caused the land to lose all of its color. Also in this game, the player has the freedom to draw on nearly everything that's on certain screens and draw whatever silly doodles they want. Coloring also plays a role in puzzle solving and exploration. For example, if the player is in the woods they can paint mushrooms to make them grow and jump on them to access a far away gap. The game also has power ups with your brush such as having paint glow in dark caverns.

Personally I'm very excited to play this game since I adore Wandersong and I'm to see how Greg Lobanov's next creative venture will play. Below is the most recent trailer for the game:
