History
Chris Sawyer is a Scottish game developer, most famous for creating the RollerCoaster Tycoon franchise. He began his career in software development in 1983 by writing games for the Memotech MTX and later moved onto the Amstrad CPC. Starting in 1988 he began porting popular Amiga games to PC. In 1993 he began working on his own project, Transport Tycoon. Releasing in 1994, it became a smash hit. This was followed up by Transport Tycoon Deluxe, an improved version of Transport Tycoon in 1995. He began working on a sequel, but put this on hold to work on a new project, Rollercoaster tycoon. This was an even bigger hit, and prompted him to work on two expansion packs, and later a full sequel. Finally, in 2004 he returned to his Transport Tycoon sequel, and released Chris Sawyer's Locomotion.
Controversy
In November 2005, Chris Sawyer sued Atari for not paying him royalties. Both parties have not released public statements, but many RollerCoaster Tycoon fans were afraid that maybe the franchise would stop because of this lawsuit.
