I've never had a chance to play through Chrono Trigger during my childhood and I regret it. I've decided I want to purchase it from PSN and possibly play through this holiday but I'm afraid I may have been spoiled (I'm a stickler for spoilers).

Since it is such an old game, I've seen mention of it in countless places including one plot detail which is that you spend the majority of the game believing Magus (Magnus?) to be the final boss but it is actually revealed to be Lavos.

Is this supposed to be the big twist in the story? If so, would it still be worth it to play through the game taking into consideration my hate for spoilers?

    ***PLEASE DON'T POST OTHER SPOILERS***

This is not actually the case. You do not spend that much in game time fighting Magus. While the plot point is true, the party realizes the threat that Lavos poses as early as this most recent episode of the Endurance Run. While Magus is portrayed as being able to really mess shit up, not on a scale of what the party has seen from Lavos (destroying the world).

So, while the villain thing is true, that is not much of a spoiler and will be revealed for you soon enough.

Also, keep playing through the game. That is not even close to how insane the story gets. Also you would do well to avoid the Chrono Trigger wiki page here, and the character specific pages too. There are of key plot points written on those.

The joy of that game to me was discovering all the characters along the way and the journey. As far as the ending goes, you can see the writing on the wall a long ways off so keep at it.

Who is this Frog you speak of? Related to Brog, perhaps?

I played the game for maybe 6 or 7 hours a couple years back before getting bored and even I played enough to know Lavos was the main dude.

Yeah, if you are at the point in the game where Ryan and Patrick are, you're pretty close to fighting Magus soon anyways. Not minutes close, but hours.

@MasturbatingestBear: Alright thanks, I'll keep to it. I haven't been watching the endurance run, don't plan to until I either finish or give up :P

I would also avoid reading any more posts in this thread because it's totally troll bait.

Well, maybe several hours. Especially if you are like Ryan and Patrick where you don't read stuff or remember what people said and end up going to 65 Million BC cause there are dinosaurs.
