Overview
A cloth map is an artistic rendering of a game's world printed on a piece of cloth, that's included in a game's packaging. They are often used as an incentive to fans of the series, or for collectors who appreciate bonuses that come with the games they buy. Cloth maps may also be included in the special edition of a game release. Cloth maps are usually stylized drawings of the world, intentionally created to look like a very old map that might have been made in the era that the game takes place; as such, they are meant to be used for decoration more than navigation. Cloth maps are common to games with medieval fantasy settings.
Paper Maps
In other cases, a game will come with a map printed on paper. These are sometimes included as part of a Collector's or Limited Edition, but other times they are simply part of the regular release. In the case of Borderlands, a map only came with the re-released "Game of the Year" edition.
