    Cogs is Fun

Cogs is a puzzle game that focuses on innovative sliding puzzles.   It shines in its clever adaption of this normally frustrating puzzle format to a fun and entertaining game.

The goal is always to move the pieces around to "build the machine" by moving the pieces around.   The first few levels start off simple, and are simply basic sliding puzzles.   The puzzles get more complicated as you advance to later stages, but the basic gameplay stays the same.   Some levels feature double sided puzzles, and others have multiple independent panels that interact through pipes or gears fixed between them.   Still others make use of the third dimension by having multiple levels of gears and pipes.   There is a surprising variety to the number and type of sliding puzzles available in Cogs.

This game also features two kinds of challenge modes, one with limited time and the other with limited numbers of moves.   Once each of these puzzles has been solved, finding the ideal solutions provides some extended value for more thorough players.

It is my firm opinion that Cogs is a solid game.   If you enjoy puzzles at all, this is a game you'll want to check out.   A free demo is available that lets you check out how the game works, and gives you a good feel for how the gameplay works.

In some levels you work on a flat surface, while others have you rotating a cube to connect multiple sides. The levels in Cogs also get challenging rather quickly. Within the first 5...

A Binge Gamer Review: Cogs 0

By Allison Boyer • April 20, 2009  Psssst…We’re giving away a copy of Cogs to one luck reader. Check out this post. Do you remember that game Pipe Dream? Well, I’m pretty sure it got drunk one night and conceived a love child with a Rubik’s Cube. And that child grew up to smoke a lot of crack. The result? Cogs. Cogs was made by the indy game developers at Lazy 8 Studios and is available on Steam for just $9.99 (they’ve also go a free demo on there). Let me start off by telling you what...
