    Overview & story

    Descend into Splatland - the world of ColorBlend FX: Desaturation — a captivating mythical puzzle-platformer metroidvania that weaves a tale of glow, courage, and creativity. Join the Splatians as they unite to restore the stolen colors back to the world, challenging the nefarious schemes of the dark entity, Lord Ashen. It's the first big game made by Pi-Dev Bulgaria, developed in the Unity game engine.

    ColorBlend FX: Desaturation is inspired by PeterSvP, the lead designer's all time favorite games. Think if Super Mario meets Portal (without the portals) in a place that lacks color, then imbues some Limbo and Inside vibes, adds non-linearity and puts in references to recent life events scaled to an apocalypse. Now, humanity is extinct and the planet is inhabited by potato gnomes that believe in a fictional religion! Then the envious evil creature, Lord Ashen, the project Desaturation, finds out Splatians technology progress and causes a colorpocalypse!

    Gameplay

    The player controls a player-named Splatian who must interact with the world. The world is mono-colored with some objects popping out with strong, vivid colors. Player's color changes based of what he does in the game world. Jumping in red water pool will colorize the Splatian red. Squishing a green slime will splatter green paint around and will colorize objects and the player in green. Color scanners will activate devices that react to player's color. Other gameplay elements include pulling switches/valves, solving color puzzles, collecting coins and artifacts, fixing electrical devices, stomping and avoiding different slimes, and others.

    The game features different upgrades that grant the players new abilities and access to different environments to explore. The game world is more a metroidvania style but still linear in a way with different areas to explore: Overworld, university, mines, sewers, caves, railway tunnels, physics facility and even the virtual game world of a retro arcade cabinet. The game is kind of narrative driven by quests given by player's friends. It's a single player game with a possibility for a couch coop to appear after launch.
