I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't remake the visuals, but that doesn't prevent me from being excited to replay one of my favorite RTS games in a fresh new look.
Command & Conquer
Command & Conquer is a long-running franchise renowned for its popularization of the real-time strategy genre.
Command and Conquer Remastered is Releasing Tomorrow
@superslidetail: yep and i should be happy about that but i'm kind of spoiled from the Crash Bandicot treatment.
I played through the first C&C a couple of years ago and it held up really well. Excited to check this out.
They remastered the visuals in exactly the way I want to, I really didn't like the shift to polygonal graphics in RTS games and the poor camera controls that resulted in, high res 2D like in the StarCraft, Age of Empires and C&C remasters are exactly what I'm after.
I'm still holding some hope it'll come to GOG, so I haven't pre-ordered yet, but if there's no news about it by the time it's out on Steam tomorrow, I'll pick it up on Steam anyway, wanna play it over the weekend.
C&C is in my top three all time favorite games.
C&C95 introduced me to PC gaming when I was 12 years old. The simplicity of each unit, the FMVs and the OST by Klepacki got me hard... so I was looking forward to see how this remaster came out and, to some extent, to see if the game held up.
I'm happy to say that 4 hours in, I love it! The updated visuals, rerecorded music, bonus FMV... It's got everything a remaster should have. It even got the PSX, Dino and Ant levels.
Now, if only I dared to go into the multiplayer...
It's pretty weird that one of my first ever RTS games was KKND: Krush, Kill 'N' Destroy
@humanity: I played KKND2: Krossfire with my neighbor quite a lot. Especially remember liking the 'evil' race with the big skulls and bones on their buildings and being able to use actual scorpions as your units. I didn't know what the KKND part stood for so i reminded myself of the game often by having this little tune in my head. For some reason it's still there after all these years :P
Kay Kay N Dee twoooo........ Krosss-fi-yahh! :D
@onemanarmyy: it’s from the Hit wheels commercial isn’t it where the tracks crossed in the middle and the cars would spectacularly crash into each other (in the commercial anyway) and it had that end stinger Crossss-fi-yah!
I'm glad they remastered it the way they did, especially the music! Man Frank's work for this remaster has been great, and listening to the soundtrack was the selling point for me. Honestly I never got a chance to properly play the game on PC (as I played Tiberium dawn on PSP way back), so its a good time to get it.
