Do you find them interesting? Do you believe in any? Do you think they and the people who make are just silly?

I often get caught in a cycle of informations of conspiracies and major events in my tabs in chrome, wasting hours away just reading, I find it heavily interesting, and I wondered if any of you guys did too..
I was reading a bit about these recently, which I thought I might as well share if anyone else is interested in this stuff.

As a rule I dismiss all conspiracy theories.

I also seldom come across any.

Except I use Firefox. I felt the need to point that out.

Individuals and governments can secretly conspire to do things. But those who make a habit of believing a conspiracy without sufficient evidence are seriously stupid. Some people are reasonable and others believe what they want to believe.

This thread is going to be fun.  I'm looking forward to that Darwin was a satanist guy getting in here.

i disregard dumb theories like the moon landing etc., but i'm more than receptive to various theories, providing of course that they actually make sense.

I enjoy them. Barring stuff that's egregiously illogical I don't really have an opinion on their validity, but I just find them highly fascinating and entertaining.

@Steamboat: as a history major and a historian for some extent, I think conspiracy theory is a bunch of bull craps. It is exactly same as McCarthyism, which a bunch of paranoid people pointed out random irreverent people and accused them being a communist for wearing a read scarf.

While one must be careful not to dismiss things in too much of a knee-jerk way (after all conspiracies have occurred.  Lincoln was killed by a conspiracy with ties to his own cabinet, after all), very few of them pass the laugh test.

I think most conspiracies come down to people being very uncomfortable with the idea that huge earth-shaking events can have comparatively small causes.

"How could 19 guys with boxcutters really have wrecked all this havoc, and dominated American policy for nearly ten years?  There had to be something bigger behind it."

On some level, the idea of an enormous conspiracy behind a tragedy is more comforting because it seems less random and purposeless.  You feel like you understand it and can protect yourself against it.
