It will cost 1000 Nintendo points and includes a co-op mode. Japan will have it as soon as May 12th but there's no date for the other regions yet. This is the official product page. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a remake of the first Contra or not.

That is definitely not a remake of the first Contra.

With that said it looks a lot like Contra 4 on DS and I'm always down for some Contra.

Eh? I don't see that much difference in the variety of colors compared to the SNES Contra III which is also available on the Virtual Console and its sales probably spawned this "sequel" of sorts... You can always turn down your TV's color settings if you prefer it a little more muted >_>

I would have preffered an evolution of the Contra IV look but meh, I'll take Contra any way they serve it really.

No that is much more colorful. And I agree it looks weird. Isn't Alien Wars on the VC? Why would you need anything more then that?

You know what I dothink that the new Contra game looks more colorful but I don't care.

It's just like when some gamers threw a hissy fit about the new look to Diablo III. It doesn't matter if it looks more colorful, the gameplay is where the real game is at. If they can make a hectic but smooth Contra game with no lag and a seamless and enthralling co-op mode, I wouldn't give a flying shit if it even had me shooting rainbows to kill unicorns that bleed pixie dust.

Looks fun.  I wonder if this will be WiiWare only?  I would hate to get it on my Wii then have it come to 360 a few months later.

Vinchenzo...Black_Rose...what on EARTH are you two talking about?  Contra always had plenty of color before we saw the release of Contra: Shattered Soldier.

 A bit more gameplay to wet the appetite. Liking the music from 3 returning for the first level, and the mode 7 style effects.

I would appreciate it if this went live today.
