    How many of you could beat this game without "The Code"?

    I beat it with my brother about 4 years ago, but I don't think I had without the code before.

    Call me stupid, but I wasn't actually aware there the game had any cheats :D . I just beat the game normally every time, and my biggest achievement was beating the game without loosing a single life.
    Just for the record, what does the cheat do? :)

    This cheat gives you 30 lives instead of 3. That's crazy that you beat it without losing any lives.

    Yeah, I know. But that was way back (I think '96 or '97) when my only console was the SNES, and the games I had were few, so I knew them inside out.
    BTW, at that time there used to be pirated cartridges of Contra which gave you the spread gun and (I think it was) 60 lives, from the beginning. Haven't actually got my hands on one of them, but it's the original that counts, right?

    I remember I beat it once with 29 lives left. It was on an emulator.  It's possible I dropped below the 3 "natural" lives at some point and the made them back with extra men, but I think I can say I beat this game legit.

    Does Contra 4 support this code, in the main campaign.  I just picked it up for DS and love it, but it's hard as a butt sack.

    Every Contra game supports the Contra Code.  The ones after the SNES might not be exactly the same, but they still support a "Contra Code" of some form.

    Ah, there it is.  = D

    I kept doing it at the same speed that Gamespot's used to be at.  Didn't know it had to be slower.  Thank you, good sir.

    Now you need something for 42.  = D

    Did it. Purple monkeys wearing lederhosens burst through all of my windows and tried to feed me flaming cake. You better hope my insurance covers this.

    @BigShot:

    This game really brings back memory.And yeah,I started playing Contra about 2 weeks ago  using Virtual NES and just beat the game without die 4 times out of around 50 tries.I managed to record 2 of my "No Death" playthroughs and want to keep it for my own sweet memory and maybe for my blog :)

    Next I want to try beating Super Contra without death.
