So after seeing the GB video today I purchased a copy expecting a corny, mystery FMV game. I'm currently midway through the 8pm sequence, and MAN this game goes places! There's a crazy satanic cult, hardcore drugs, a second murder, and one of the most genuinely terrifying person I've seen in a long time. So yeah, it all seriousness people should buy this game.

An FMV murder mystery adventure game in which the player must identify characters' contradictory statements to solve the case.
This game is legitimately fantastic
@koolaid: I haven't gotten that far yet, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it's actually Katy's bike...
@adequatelyprepared: So far i'm a little over halfway and have put in about 4 hours. It gets more difficult as it progresses, due to the sheer volume of evidence and characters.
@skyline7284: That actually sounds like a decent length. I was fully expecting this to be a short adventure game to be done in 2 or 3 hours. Might take a dive as well.
But do you ever find out anything about Simon's bike? It's not even locked up!
The bike killed kate.
I played threw this today and it would be a crime if it didn't end up on at least one game of the year list.
@shindig: That was exactly what I was thinking as I was watching the QL: "This looks like a murder mystery that would get repeated at 3pm on a weekday on ITV3".
I'm glad that it's a legitimately good game, I hate it when games are illegitimately good.
I'm just joshin', English is a funny language.
As I suspected, this is every episode of Midsummer Murders at once. Something I'd prefer to watch than play.
I thought this at first too, but I don't think it is really. I think it's more like a Midsummer Murders/True Detective crossover - although I haven't played it (debating whether or not to get it!). It's all in those establishing shots, all of those stange caligari-esque angles of him walking up stairs and lookingat buildings - plus the aspect of being sent away and disconnected from his home base. It speaks to me of gothic horror. I actually think the camerawork is pretty well done, once you get past the oddness of the entire concept. It's just a shame it's so light on music to really drive the atmosphere home.
