Cool Boarders was one of the first snowboarding sports video games in 3D released two years before Nintendo cornered the market with 1080° Snowboarding on the Nintendo 64.
The first two games were developed by UEP Systems until they sold the name rights to Playstation in the United States, who then handed off development to 989 Studios. UEP would continue to develop Cool Boarders games under its original name in Japan, one for the Sega Dreamcast and one more for the Playstation 2 before going dormant.
