Hey... it has been quite some time since my last CS match. I was a huge fan back in the day when this first came out; I played the original CS and CSS as a teen. I wanted to know if anyone has played the game recently and could give me a heads up as to how the community is now. Steam achievements seem like a plus (if you're into that kinda thing) and I was looking for a throw back FPS replacement for Black Ops (you know it sucks). Thank you for any legit response. Cheers
Counter-Strike: Source
Game » consists of 4 releases. Released Aug 11, 2004
Counter-Strike gets reborn with a shiny new game engine in this 2004 remake.
Counter-Strike Source.... Worth the $19.99???
The community continues to be stupid giant, theres so many different clans and groups that im sure you can find someone to get along with if your the social type, and the mods and game mode variants are endless. Im assuming you've played some counter strike so the learning curve shouldn't bother you too much. Achievements are fun too... i might go play some now.
Its really a question of whether or not you have the money, I got my copy for 5 bucks on sale. But the game is still worth that 20 bucks I can assure you.
personally I think it's worth the money, but Valve literally nukes the prices on all their own games anytime there is a sale. They also do the same for midweek/weekend sales, but those sales are so random you could be waiting forever. So if you don't think $15 more is going to kill you if you don't decide to wait then get it now.
Its almost 1:00 AM and I am about to go play CS right now. Its still the only online shooter I need. Totally worth 20 bones.
yes it is. i say buy counter strike: source and garry's mod. it's $25 for both of them. garry's mod is a half life 2 mod thing. there are different things that you can do in the game, like build stuff with half life 2 objects, roll play, make things.
yes, counter strike is a good game. i have 67 hours ~ 3 years of playing it. there's a small learning curve to it but once you know it you will be great. there are still a lot of people who play it. there are clans but it's still good. my favorite map are office and de_dust.
It's on sale quite regularly, and is often really cheap in retail stores as well (the retail version is activated on Steam anyway, and probably includes HL2 Deathmatch and possibly Portal as well, that's what the TF2 retail release included). It's worth having, but I think $20 is a bit much for such an old multiplayer only game, especially when it's basically only one multiplayer mode you want the game for.
" No. CS isn't a game that ages well imho. "Actually, I think it has aged quite well. CS:S that is, the original CS not as much.
Valve regularly updates the game, not quite as much as TF2, but there was a graphics update in 2010, and there are lots of mods around if you're into that sort of stuff.
