When the game is on sale next week, there will be 2 versions. One for $10 / 800 MS Points that allows you to play as 1 of the 3 characters. There will also be a $15 / 1200 MS Points one which gives you all 3 of the characters. The free one they gave out is the more expensive one.

I like the core of that idea, but $5 doesn't seem like it will be much of a differentiator for people.

I tried this four player today. Lots of fun! It reminds me of the Lara Croft game from last year. A mix of combat and searching for secrets. The frame rate is a bit disappointing (maybe just in 4P mode) but overall this is one of the better four player games out there.

In single player, I can see it being a bit of a lamer version of Torchlight, as it has less details and no talent points and stuff.

I like the idea of only paying for one character, since most of the time with these games I'll only ever play through it once anyway.

The price difference isn't really enough though, especially since I'll likely go through it on local co-op.

So you got two codes? One for all three and one for just a one- off?  How many codes did you get?

@jozzy: No level ups, just money. You get new armor which unlocks various power upgrades and such.

Re: Length. It doesn't seem to be short, but I have no idea how long it is. We played it for a few hours on Sunday and I wouldn't say we were more than halfway in.

Its not free to play. The thing your downloading is basically the "trial", if you want the rest of the game you need to pay for the 3-pack of characters for 1200 points on the game page. You can pay for just one character at 800 points if you want.

@617_jbug: I'm getting the same thing. XBL shows it as free for me, even though I didn't buy all of the SoA titles.

Yeah I thought they might be going with some crazy free to play scheme, but it's just a trial. I think that would be an interesting idea though. "You've reached the end of the trial, pay 80 points for the next level!.

I think MS is really missing out on a microtransaction based MMO on Xbox.
