    Crouch Jump

    Concept »

Crouch Jumping is an action performed in FPS games in which the player crouches mid-jump in order to hurdle an obstacle or reach higher ground.

Should non-FPS games be excluded from this page?

I was just looking at the crouch jump page; and according the article 'crouch jumping' should not be confused with "jumping while crouched, such as was possible in many 80's and 90's side-scrolling games, e.g. the Super Mario franchise."

What's the reason for the caveat? I know the term crouch-jumping is most widely associated with FPSs; but Is there really a significant difference between performing this move from a side view versus a first person view? Or should all games that feature simultaneous crouching and jumping be included here?

If games such as Super Mario Bros. do have to be excluded, should we make a separate page? If so, what do we call it - 2D Crouch-Jumping? Side-View Crouch-Jumping? Non-FPS Crouch-Jumping??

Does crouch jumping in super Mario fill the same purpose? That is, to pull up your legs and get over obstacles that are otherwise too high. Because if that is the case, sure keep it on the page.

But if the ability in Mario is just jumping while crouching, it's not the same concept.
