"We also received a great deal of fan feedback regarding one of the missions in the original Crysis and discovered that it was really frustrating for players and that they felt it was just not that fun to play. That's obviously the last thing you want to be hearing as a game developer, so we made the decision to remove that particular level completely, and we believe that the game as a whole is actually better for it."

If it's the level I'm thinking of, it seems more likely that it was cut because the 360/PS3 would have a fit trying to render it. My mouth was agape the entire time you were in the zero grav section. Unless someone else can fill me in on what level they're talking about. I don't remember disliking any part of Crysis.

EDIT: Ok, the fights near the end of the zero grav sequence weren't great by any stretch, but to cut out a section of the game seems a bit much?

EDIT 2: So it looks like the level cut was the VTOL level, Ascension. I enjoyed that sequence, but I don't think it's a huge loss.

I'm still looking forward to picking this up, as I don't have a PC to play Crysis (played it on a friends rig).

I kind of liked the little zero gravity intermission, it was just the level design and the stupid alien colon tubes that made it so horrible imo.

That and I had no ammo so I had to punch every alien in the face.

No, the level is Ascension, the one where you fly the VTOL. When Nomad goes into the Ceph ship in the first Crysis, it's an important part of the Crysis story. I think it's a dumb idea that they're leaving anything out, especially Ascension, because I loved flying the VTOL near the end, and while I don't like saying I'm better than others at playing games, it makes me angry that the majority of people sucked at flying the ship, because that's the only reason it's being taken out; it's one of the better parts (though I loved the whole game) that made me say "Oh wow, this is awesome!".

I really hated that part...it seemed more random if the tornados would hit you are not. Im glad if this is really what they are taking out.

@The_Laughing_Man: Nothing against you, because maybe you didn't try it enough times to care, but I think people just kind of sucked at the part, because it's not really that hard to stay left of the tornado without it sucking you in or even near it. Though I've seen a few people struggle there, which always amazed me. I liked it a lot. I have a feeling that most people that played that part and didn't like it, or simply weren't great at it, didn't exactly appreciate games like Ace Combat, 'cause that's kind of what it felt like to me; in a way.

@NTM: I think people will call us both crazy, because I had zero problems in any level of Crysis, including that level as well. I am gobsmacked that people found it hard.

Yeah, like I said before, I liked the stage a lot, and to me, although everything in the game is memorable, that's one of the moments I think of most. By the way, I feel very much in the minority here, but I'm actually waiting for the game to come out in a few hours, that's the only reason I'm awake as it's 11:10 PM.

Lame, the Zero G section was fucking awesome, it made me feel a genuine sense of exploration, and the combat had a great novelty factor. The whole section felt cool from a cinematic perspective. I'm certainly not buying this now. When I think of Crysis I think of that level.

Maybe the reason people didn't like it was because of the exceptionally poor flight controls. Just a wild theory there.

@Contro: If you read my comment, you would have noticed that I cleared it up and said it's not the Zero G stage, it's Ascension, at the end where you fly the VTOL. So the OP didn't get the right stage.

@Deusoma: That's what they think, but it wasn't, it controlled just fine. It's kind of like someone that doesn't know how to play video games, comes over and tries to control the character, they can't do it well, so they don't like it. As I see it, some people just aren't used to playing games where you have to fly things. It wasn't the game, it was the lack of experience players have with those scenarios. I could be wrong, but if I didn't have a problem with it, I don't see why others did. Maybe you're right, though I have thought of that just as an excuse.

If it is the zero gravity sequence, that part really sucked and I'm fine with them cutting it.

It seems to me that doesn't really hold up as well given the target audience of Crysis was "hardcore PC gamers"  and the majority of players seemed to dislike it.

    @Deusoma:

This is just what fanboys do. Anytime someone complains about a level or boss in a game, a wild fanboy will appear to defend the game by insulting that person's "skill" and then talking about how shockingly easy and fun said level/boss was for them.

It's a VTOL. It played like a VTOL or chopper for that matter. Maybe if you had a machine worth a damn the framerate wouldn't be hobbling your experience. Just a really accurate guess here.

I have a lovehate relationship with that level. I really thought it was the most jaw-dropping part of the game, because it didn't belong in an FPS which made it awesome and surprising, however the gameplay itself was confusing and they didn't prepare you well for it.

They shouldn't have removed it, the console players are gonna miss out on one atmospheric mind trip.

I was just playing through Crysis on PS3 and...

I really wish they hadn't cut the VTOL level.  I didn't find it frustrating at all when playing the PC version, and I could only imagine it controlling better on the consoles.  Not knowing it was removed before actually getting to this part, I have to say I found it somewhat jarring.

I just think it's kind of shitty.
