    Laser Shooting Pickaxe!

Lets cut to the quick here. If you like creepy horror games, don't even read the rest of this review. Go straight to your local game store right now and BUY SOMETHING ELSE!  Anything else. I beg you. A laser shooting pickaxe? Are you freaking kidding me? A poorly constructed Resident Evil game with  mysterious monks and elusive Sherpas! This game is simply painful to play. All I could think while I was playing Cursed Mountain was "I should go back and update my 2/5 score for Deadly Premonition because this game makes that game look like pure genius."

Ok, if you want a horror game on the Wii, here are a few suggestions:

    • Silent Hill Shattered Memories
    • Deadly Creatures
    • Dead Space Extraction

Or any of these Gamecube games (just grab a GC controller):
    • Resident Evil 0, 1, 2, 3, 4
    • Eternal Darkness

    Or just about anything else.

Ok, I know I am not supposed to tell you to buy other games when reviewing a game but I just needed to warn people. All I can say is that I could not stand to play this game long enough to do it justice. I barely finished the introductory chapter (but I did). But that first chapter of the game was so awful that I simply refused to go any further.  Instead, I just checked out a few videos on the web to see if the later chapters could possible be that bad. And I will say, they did not look quite as dull as the first level of the game but I will never, ever see those levels because the first level told me everything I needed to know:

1 - bad bland textures everywhere you look
    2 - clunky controls
    3 - sloooooooow movement
4 - dull story presentation and vocals
5 - little or no direction as to what you should be doing (not even a map)
6 - 500 doors you cannot open. (makes Silent hill look like Canada to
    Michael Moore...Google it).
7 - backtracking (even in the first level.... come on)

The pacing was just painful slow. Sure, it was just the introduction chapter but any game that gives this bad an impression can only get so good. And you can flame me and say that "I must play more" but I wont. I simply refuse. And from what I can tell, this is one cursed mountain you simply do not want to summit.

The Cure for Cursed Mountain 0

Cursed Mountain is a wonderful game for the horror genre. There is a well developed story and enough gameplay to keep the real gamer interested. As well, it is developed in a different way than any game available... while drawing from existing games.   The story of Cursed Mountain lies in the Himilayas, where you are an explorer looking to save your brother. Your brother has climbed the sacred mountain of Chomolonzo and was lost. Your job is to search the city for clues, climb the mountain, and ...
