    Junior is also an accomplished driver in the Nationwide series, NASCAR's second-tier series. In it he has two championships (98 & 99) and 23 wins. He carried his father's famous #3 to honor him at Daytona in 2002 and 2010; he won both races. He also owns his own team in the Nationwide series, JR Motorsports, which sponsors the #7 GoDaddy Chevrolet for Danica Patrick.

    He won the Daytona 500 six years to the day that his father won the event in 1998. This made them the third father and son combo to win the Daytona 500 along with Lee and Richard Petty and Bobby and Davey Allison.
