It's been driving me crazy since the beginning of Metal Gear Scanlon. He calls MGS1 "metal gear 1," MGS2 "Metal Gear 2," MGS3 "Metal Gear 3," and MGS4 "Metal Gear 4"

IT'S SO INCORRECT AND DRIVES ME NUTS. Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 are the names of actual video games for the MSX. There's a reason they started over with the numbering for Metal Gear Solid. JUST CALL THEM MGS, DAN. He can't just do this. He can't continue this madness.

I think you care about this too much.

I'm a person who loves Metal Gear on the NES/MSX and hates MGS, and even I'm fine with someone calling Solid, "Metal Gear". The first games have no relevance in today's world. Possibly never did.

I don't really recall this happening too much, but it's just one of those things that whenever I hear Metal Gear, I never think about the MSX games.. so it doesn't bother me much.

I do this too, because growing up I had no idea those games existed and are completely irrelevant. Especially to my generation. The 'solid' never felt necessary to include. Everyone I spoke to knew what I was talking about.

I understand the need to correct, I get overly annoyed about stupid things that they say or do. I'm dumb.

I do believe the proper title is Tactical Espionage Action: Metal Gear Solid: An Interactive Video Game For The Sony PlayStation and Personal Computer Developed By Konami Computer Entertainment Japan and Written and Directed By Hideo Kojima.

Also acceptable: "Metal... Gear!?"

Referring to MGS2 as "Metal Gear 2" also bothers me.

I assume he does it because almost nobody gives a shit about the original Metal Gear games. I usually say MGS, but it's not like it's confusing when he talks about Metal Gear.

I have trouble not calling "MGS" just "Metal Gear 1" but I often catch myself. Though I never call Guns of the Patriots "Metal Gear 4" In fact I prefer to use the subtitles.

I remember watching a GCCX episode where the host referred to the series as simply "metal".

That's... just terrible. I hope the western civilization finally develops some appreciation of precision and such transgressions will be punishable by death at some point.

There were two Metal Gear games and then the rest picked up the story. It all is Metal Gear and the same story.

Metal gear 1 and Metal gear solid 1 will always be the same game to me. Those early games didn't exist to me until after i played mgs2
